Vehicle Detail
2001 BMW X5 4.4i SUVThis auction is for my personal use vehicle, that I own FREE AND CLEAR with TITLE in hand. Every time I turn the key and start the engine of this machine it puts a smile on my face! My husband remarked when I purchased the vehicle that it was "ridiculous" that I wanted a car with so much power just to cruise around town...until he took it for a test drive...SOLD!!!! I recently test drove a new Lincoln and a new Lexus both left me disappointed and heading back to the BMW dealership...Once you drive a BMW...nothing ever feels quite like the connected true driver's experience you get from these cars...This vehicle comes very well equipped with options that include: SPORT PACKAGE - $2,470 option Sport alternate suspension; Front alloy wheels with 19 inch rim diameter and 9.0 inch rim width , rear alloy wheels with 19 inch rim diameter and 10.0 inch rim width; Spoke wood and leather trim Steering Wheel, White Turn IndicatorsActivity Package - $850 Option Heated driver and passenger seat; High pressure headlight cleaners; Windshield wipers with automatic intermittent wipe and rain sensor; Rear seat center armrest with ski bag; Power Glass Moonroof - $1,050 Glass electric tilting sliding front sunroof with sunshadeRear Seat Heating - $350Front facing heated rear seats Park Distance Control - $350 Parking distance sensors Likely others that I am over looking!!! This SUV has been driven by myself and my husband EXCLUSIVELY for the duration of our ownership...no adolescent drivers making question driving choices...just straight down the road...always on pavement, NEVER OFF ROADED. Premium gas at EVERY fill up and with regular oil changes. We have garage kept this car and none has EVER smoked it in. It has brand new 2016 PA State Safety and Emission Inspection stickers and a set of new all season tires that will take you well into the future. We did our VERY best to take high resolution pics so you could see the actual condition of the car...The exterior paint shines and incidentally has NOT been waxed nor detailed for these photos. I typically take an entire weekend prepping any car I have sold ( friends and family only) and wax the exterior, clean the wheels and thoroughly detail the interior. I had planned to do so but due to a recent illness decided to show the car "as-is"...We removed my personal items, vacuumed it and ran it trough the local brushless car wash...THAT IS IT!!!! No hocus pocus, no Photoshop other than cropping...I think it stands on its own quite well for a 15 year old car!!! No quality short cuts with BMW!!!The car has a has a few surface scratches that can likely be buffed out with a few hours of elbow grease or by a professional auto detailer. There are two photos that show scratches on the driver's side rear bumper and a dent by the rear passenger's taillight, that are significant and of which any potential buyer should be made aware. The dent is the result of being hit by an elderly lady driving a Dodge Ram pickup, as she attempted to pull out of a local market's parking lot without so much as turning her head to see IF there was oncoming traffic. While her entire front end lay a shattered mess of plastic on the ground, my Bimmer lost a Taillight (which we replaced - OEM) and gained a battle scar, but the BEST part of the story was that on a subsequent trip to run another errand...LATER THAT SAME DAY...I was nearly hit again by the VERY same lady (I swear you cannot make this up!!!! Beware of little old ladies driving hunter green Dodge Rams!!!!) I have been told how very safe BMW's are to drive but never thought much about it until that day!!! (I have pics of the actual incident available upon request)The interior of the car has clean solid leather seats NO RIPS...NO TEARS...The Charcoal black interior color over the Mahogany exterior was the color combo I sought when I purchased this car. It is one you do not see often and I personally like that it STILL turns heads!!! I personally preferred the DARK BURL WALNUT wood grain with the dark black leather. This vehicle has the SPORT PACKAGE which One good coat of leather wax will add a great deal to the already beautiful seats and door surfaces. There are SOME missing pixels in the dash display...but the car arrived at my doorstep that way...undisclosed by the dealer I might add. It is a common BMW issue that never bothered me, but in an effort to disclose...see dash photos of missing pixels. :-)Mechanical Concerns:This SUV does have a few issues that I MUST disclose in order to sell it to an individual...Let me start by saying this is currently my daily driver which I do not plan to replace until it is SOLD so the number listed on the Odometer will go up a bit...However I typically drive LESS THAN 5,000 miles per YEAR...so I do not anticipate putting more than a few hundred miles on it if even that. As pictured you can see this car has a BRAND NEW PA STAE SAFETY and EMISSIONS inspection on it and is READY to go for another year!!!! The car drives and handles EXACTLY the way it did when I first bought it...EXACTLY like a BMW should...quick acceleration, smooth even shifting, firm tight steering, solid cornering and rock solid braking! We recently had the vehicle in to have a battery replaced, to fix a broken exterior door handle, and to replace torn CV Boots (common X5 problem) and to be serviced at which point the service team told me it has a "small oil leak". We have had the DREADED "Valley Pan Gasket" replaced roughly three years ago and the Service Manager and General Manager at Bobby Rahal both assured me that this leak was NOT related and that the car could continue to be driven INDEFINITELY without need for repair (providing of course you check your oil) I DO NOT have oil puddling under my car and DO NOT have antifreeze in the oil nor do I have smoke from the exhaust. I also have NOT had to add oil since I was alerted to this situation a month ago. At this same time the dealership told me that my Power Steering lines are leaking. As stated above I have NO EVIDENCE of this...but I also have no reason to doubt the dealership...So I assume it is reasonable that on a 15 year old car the power steering lines could be leaking. The car handles as it always has...so PLEASE be aware this repair is lurking...Again...it is NOT a problem currently but a new owner should either be able to make this repair him/herself or at least know you will need to spend some money down the road.A/C is currently NOT working...We decided to sell the car "As-Is" rather than fix. What I can tell you about the A/C is this...I had a local "indy" guy "recharge" the system and it blew cold for almost 2 days...He did NOT do a trace but he told me that it was simply a leak, that the condenser and all other components appeared to be working correctly (otherwise we would not have had cold air for 2 days) This to me is the BIGGEST issue with the car, because it is CURRENTLY NOT WORKING...whereas everything else mentioned so far are future concerns.Last but certainly worth mentioning...The Driver's and Passenger window regulators need replaced. The windows both go up and down with the appropriate power button BUT if you roll them ALL the way down to the sill they often will not come back up...unless you use a set of needle noses to "help" them back up. This is an EASY fix for anyone mechanically inclined. We fixed the regulators on my son's BMW when he lived at home 5 years ago...It is not hard nor terribly expensive to do yourself...but it will take a few hours and some patience. While this MAY seem like a LONG LIST...this is a 15 year old car! If I have NOT mentioned it as a problem it is in good working condition, but feel free to ask!!! All of the issues mentioned are VERY common problems with this model except the power steering lines...that I believe is simply a matter of AGE...I realize I MAY scare buyers off with my "FULL DISCLOSURE" but please know that this car has been "babied" thorough out my ownership and that I have had it to the dealer and an independent garage (new brake lines) to verify that the assessment I have given is fair and accurate. Check the Bimmer Forums or XPost for common problems on this vehicle and you will find that my information is correct... Technical Service Manual will be included for a Buyer who purchases this vehicle using the BUY IT NOW!!!!This X5 has been to TWO mechanics recently and they were both authorized to find potential problems as we trying to decide IF it was time to buy new. We have decided that it is...BUT I am having a hard time letting go! I am HOPING to find someone who has the mechanical ability and to put a little time into this baby and make her great for a few more years! I have done my VERY BEST to be honest and forthcoming about the condition of the vehicle...so PLEASE take the time to REEAD ALL of the information I have provided! I am available to answer any questions I can and to provide as much additional information as I can to help you decide IF this SUV is the one for you!!!!
