Up for sale is a very nice '96 Honda Civic DX HB 4 cyl 1.6L engine with approximately 150k. Overall, this Civic is in great condition for its age, but there are a couple of issues which ill explain. The Good: Cosmetically this car looks great! The typical rust that is so common on these cars is practically non existent, though there is one very small area on the Right rear fender, and a couple of very tiny dings, barely noticeable. The interior is in equally good shape. Leather seats from an Acura were added by the previous owner, with seat heaters, neatly wired to switches on the center console. Carpet and vinyl are both nice. Has a nice Sony CD with detachable face. Four good tires with plenty of tread. Recently went in for a tune up. Gets amazing gas mileage, as with most cars of this type, and handles beautifully. The Bad: Previous owner replaced the ECU with a different one. There are two issues related to this ECU. First, the on board diagnostics cannot be read, and therefore this car cannot currently pass smog test in Indiana. In Illinois a car of this year is exempt. Second, though the car runs well, once it gets to operating temps it sometimes does not want to restart after being shut off. This is probably an easy fix for somebody who knows these cars, but I have neither the time or the know how. Otherwise, this is a great little, mostly unmolested honda hatchback.
