Early in the 1980's Datsun introduced a turbocharged model  with the L28ET engine (rated at 180 bhp at 5,600 rpm and 203 ft lbs of torque at 2,800 rpm) to the US export market, it was not available in Japan as it was deemed too powerful.  Per R&T the Automatic 280 ZX would accelerate to 60 in 7.1 seconds besting most other sports cars of the era including the Ferrari 308 and even its manual transmission ZX sister.  In 1982 Datsun facelifted the ZX, since come to be called the "Series II" 280ZX. Power steering became standard with a new rack-and-pinion system, the rear suspension layout was updated and rear brake calipers and rotors were also upgraded. Here is a remarkably preserved 54k mile "Series II"  1983 280ZX Turbo 2+2  T-Top in a lovely shade of grey over dove grey leather; fully optioned and with automatic transmission.   My client purchased it off an estate, the ZX has an original California Pink Slip in pink!  She runs absolutely great!  Very smooth, good power even given a torque converter, and shits are positive.  No creaks or rattles and brakes are quite good.  The paint is very very nice except a small area where the T-Top left panel has scraped the roof.  Clearly garaged and kept clean as paint has excellent luster for being original. I see no evidence of crash damage or re-spray anywhere.  Leather is excellent shape as are carpets and dash; no cracks.  The ZX has AC, but does not blow cold, and Cruise but that I can't get to lock on so may be in-op.  Everything else works: lights, radio, mirrors, windows all power.  Tires and brakes are very good condition. It has just passed CA SMOG.  T-Top soft cases and rear hatch soft cover are with car, but unfortunately no owner's manual. Early Datsun's are becoming harder to find in original unmolested condition thus rare and desirable; this is a very nice example and nicely preserved.  This is a private party car consigned to Driveline for sale, please call 650-261-1777.
