Vehicle Detail
Up for your consideration for sale is my all original, one-owner 1992 Firebird Formula with 72,100 ORIGINAL miles. I purchased this car brand new and drove it off the show room floor from Dennis Pontiac, (a large dealer at the time in the Columbus, Ohio area). What to say....well, it has the original GM paint, which unfortunately at that time, was not a good; just weeks after I had the car, I had to have the driver's side door panel repainted. However, from 1992-2007 it had been garaged every winter and only driven less than 8 months out of the year. I had a daily driver, this was my dream/pleasure car. When I got divorced, I lost my garage for it but still drove it the same way; rarely and in the winter time it was under cover of a carport - 3 sides covered, open in the front, but backed in so the sun/weather did not get to it much. There is very little rust, 1 or 2 TINY spots, but it does need paint after 23 years and because of the poor quality of the GM paint when it was produced. It needed a muffler last year to pass inspection and I had someone put it on, but it was not put on correctly and needs to be fixed, it is a new muffler, however. Midas told me it would cost approximately $287.00 to fix this incorrect placement that does not effect the running of the car or exhaust in any way. The one dual exhaust is too low and not in the "track" where it should be, so will scrape in very low situations. The high-mount rear brake light bracket needs attention; basically just a washer to get the bracket back in place. Because this is loose, the light works on and off, once you hold it back in place, it works. The air conditioning needs charged, but ran well previously, so does not run cool. The CD player does not work (OEM cheap junk from GM Delco - original AM/FM/CD player), and it has a equalizer (factory also) and the speakers crack at some point, but if you leave the settings on the equalizer alone, at some points, the speakers do not crack. The tires have very little miles on them but do have some age on them; however, the car did pass inspection last year. Because of the asking price, I will be leaving the inspection up to the buyer and if it is an out of state vehicle, may not even need inspected. The hood arms need replaced - they are air tubes and run about $40.00 I believe, to hold the hood up. Also, the hood leaver needs replaced; if you just hit the hood in the front, it will open. I did not have the means to get these little mechanical things fixed; my husband took care of all of those things. Recently, the one headlight will not go down, I was told this needs a motor and around $250.00. Lastly, I just found 2 cracks in the dash, to my dismay. There is nothing opening up or anything coming out, I think it was just so cold this past winter and because of its age, it happened. You do not notice it right away. Other than those minor mechanical things, for a car that is 23 years old, it is an AWESOME car and runs STRONG and you better hold on, if you want to go fast, you got it! It always had the oil changed regularly. It has never been wrecked. It has a K&N air filter on it and a locking gas cap. This black beauty has locking T-Tops which is the best thing about this car, aside from how fast and attractive it is. A lot of people call it the "Kit" car from the Knight Rider show. It has a nice wide spoiler on the back and a hood scoop on the front - both original. It has the original honeycomb locking wheels. There are also hydraulic arms in the rear window that were replaced by a male friend I had 3 years ago, he is no longer in this area. The battery is about 3 years old. Cosmetically, the car needs paint and the T-Tops could be refurbished, other than that, the interior is very clean. Driver's side airbag, not sure if it has a passenger side. It has a heavy-duty performance suspension. It has an automatic antenna that goes up when you turn the radio on and down when you turn it off, bucket seats, cargo cover, locking rear box, key with the chip in it for security (the car won't start w/o the chip key), no rips, tears or stains in the interior or seat upholstery, original floor mats. The T-Top lock. I almost always kept/keep the gasoline tank full, so it never sat empty so that condensation could cause rust and eventually a hole/holes. When you drive this car, you get lots of attention, whether you want it or not (cops - lol). I had NO ONE in the backseat, ever. I have no children, etc., almost always just me in the driver's seat, rarely anyone in the passenger seat. I worked at home, so the only time I drove this baby was on vacation and now and then for pleasure around town. The hatchback is automatic; do not slam down, it closes automatically and works well. There is a locking compartment in the back. There is a cover to cover your cargo also. You can put a lot of things in the deep well in the cargo area. The heated rear defroster works well, as well as all of the other; fan, heat, defroster front, etc. I am in the process of losing EVERYTHING - so, this is the only reason I am selling my baby, because I sure do not want to, but have no choice. I have clear title and will accept all FAIR offers only. Please do not insult me and my intelligence about this car because I am a woman. I treat people the way I want to be treated and expect the same. This car is rare; it has the heavy duty suspension kit on it and it is a 350, not a weak 305 - too much of a heavy car for that small engine, I drove one before I bought this baby and it hardly got out of its way. I priced the engine out and for the same engine with 82,800 miles on it, it priced $1,690 with a retail price of $2,500, so the engine is worth at least $1,700. The tires, which pass inspection, are also approximately worth $800.00-$1,000.00. Before delivery, I had the body Zbarted and the interior Scotchguarded, almost at $1,600.00 option, and it has been well worth it as you can see there is virtually NO RUST on the exterior and no stains on the interior. So, please be realistic about offers and what things are actually worth. With just a little mechanical work and a paint job, you could make a pretty penny off this beauty, I just don't have the money to put out to fix these issues to keep it and I really want it to go to someone who LOVES this body style and year as much as I do. Of course as is, no warranty/guarantee about anything regarding this 23-year-old black beauty. This baby has never been involved in any accidents, even tapped. Cashier's check at my credit union and/or cash upon transfer at the CU. Half down through PayPal, the rest as described. My CU is less than 2 miles from where I live. The notary and transfer of title place is the other direction, again, less than 2 miles from my home. You can get your temp tags and everything there. It can all be done and you driving away promptly. The BEST FAIR offer drives away with my heart....
