Vehicle Detail

1964 Chevy Corvair “Monza” Convertible. "Made in the U.S.A" Up for auction is our 1964 Orig Chevy Monza Corvair, we’ve owned about a year and a half, and I took her in on part trade for a street bike, I was selling. It’s all original with working speedo reading 33,000 mile, which could be 133,000 she is 51 years old, yet sat in a garage from 1978 to 2013, and doesn't look to have covered that many miles, but ?. we are the second registered owners from what we could find ( they guy we got her from, never registered it) It is registered (60.00 per year) It's an original California black plate car (NOT Y.O.M) and insured with Haggerty classic car insurance (85.00 per year) there is no rust on this baby, except some common surface dust on the underside. Previous owner did ; new brakes master cylinder, fuel tank, had both carburetors sent out and completely rebuilt, We have added 5 new factory spec tires, 1963 wire hub caps (because the 64 style wire hubcaps look like crap to me) and has its excellent orig Monza hub caps. New fuel pump, battery tender and a set of Clark's replacement front black seat covers ($$- front bucket seats alone can sell up to a grand), NOS Lloyd brand vintage front floor mates, orig under dash FM/ cassette (Orig Corvair AM radio is not hooked up) Tonnoue cover that matches the orig cars color. All glass perfect, all doors open and close as they should, window work as they should, all light work as the should and we switched the sealed beams for H4 headlight which cut the darkness better, and air horns added–loud horns better in small cars (but perfect working orig still in orig location) New carpets, NO rust, solid orig floors. Perfect orig dash, and steering wheel and horn ring. She runs very well with her Air-cooled flat 6 engine, with a year old nos stock muffler, we’ve done maybe a dozen or so short 50 to 75 miles trips and one to Tahoe and back since we’ve had her, no problems, but this is not a race car or Turbo spyder, 70 hour after hour on the highway is pushing it, but we don’t drive it to get there fast, It’s the journey we dig with top down Cruz ‘in. If you understand, or feel Corvair's, you could drive her home anywhere. The bad, paint is orig and I’ve tried to buff out, but nothing but sore arms, if you want to keep the orig patina like (my suggestion) grab some friends / beers and wet sand this baby, polish it up and enjoy. ( “Restored Original” are two words that do not go together, AND are way over used, it’s only orig once, once restored ..It’s “Restored and NOT original) any one with deep pockets can restore any car, but in recent years , check the value, Un-restored orig’s are where the smart money is, in any car and model, check the auction numbers and private sales , sorry, my pet peeve with the whole classic car market/game) now that said, a restored 1964 Monza convertible (same color, engine, top color, interior twin) did sell not long ago for $21,000.00 ( see picture of showroom car picture) Oh, has orig water tight top (caught it rain twice) that has 2 tiny ½’ splits, they could just be fixed with some waxed canvas thread, It’s a convertible leave the top down , or you should buying a hard top. Ready to drive home ( slowly ) or shipped . Low reserve auction, might end early with a deposit buy it now offer. I reserve the right to end auction early as it is on two other venues, offered for sale. Any questions email me. Mydurant510@hotmail.com Corvair sold where is as is condition in Rocklin, Ca (20 miles north of Sacramento on I-80, no other promises made or implied. No deadbeat gamers please, have not the time. Summer is coming, drop the top, cause we know everything looks sweeter with no top right? Plus, you’re buying an investment as such, enjoy your toy. More /all pictures may be viewed here.
