Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a 1976 Porsche 914/4 California car. The drive train is a 2.0L flat four with a 5-speed manual transmission. 1976 was the last year the 914 was made, with only about 4,200 being built. The odometer reads 50,832 miles and I have every reason to believe this is the original mileage. Some history on this car… The widow of the original owner let the car sit in the driveway from approximately 1979 through 1993 when she sold the car. The new owner had engine work done and got it running again although he did not register it or put it on the road. For whatever reason, he lost interest and put the car up for sale which is how I ended up with it. Because of the nature of my job (I traveled a lot) the car has rarely been driven over the past 10 years or so that I have owned it. The car was registered through July of 2014 and is currently in non-op status. Some info on the condition of the car: The Good: The car has the original 2.0 liter fuel injected engine and the tranny shifts smoothly. The tires have less than 100 miles on them and are mounted on original fuchs (the spare is also an original fuch). The car was repainted in the 90’s and has some nicks and scratches. There is also some bubbling on the passenger side fender, but overall the paint looks good. The interior looks good and the seats have been redone in a breathable mesh, so they look original but you don’t sweat as easily when seated. The battery is new (about 2 months old) Many of the rubber seals (window, windshield, etc) were replaced. The remaining seals are in good shape. The original California emissions pump is intact. The not so good: As mentioned above, the car sat in a driveway for many years and there was some rust on the passenger side column which eventually made its way through to the bottom of the car, roughly between the seat and engine compartment. The top was repaired but not the bottom. The floor pans look good as shown in the attached pictures. The rear sway bar is there but needs to be connected. I have the plastic bushings and they will go with the sale of the car. The dash has cracks, but does have a dash cover. The muffler will soon need replacing. Note: The car is being sold as is where is. Winning bidder is responsible for shipping and any smog requirements (if applicable). A $500 non-refundable fee will be due within 48 hours of winning the auction with the balance being paid prior to pick up (cash, wire transfer or certified cashiers check will be accepted). All funds must clear the bank before the vehicle will exchange hands. Happy bidding.
