Vehicle Detail

Overview: You are bidding on a 1979 Black/Black Pontiac Trans Am. I won't call it a barn find, but it was pulled out of a garage where it's owner had abandoned it before his passing some time ago. It appears to be all original with the exception of it's later vintage Am-Fm Stereo. 14,915 miles on the odometer. Probably not accurate. Other than a complete detail, new oil, new gas and an inspection, I am selling it just as I found it. Rather than touch up the various imperfections, I would rather sell it as a true unmolested survivor. This vehicle is a perfectly running example and could be a fine driver in it's present condition, or it could be a perfect starting point for a complete restoration. I have clear California title. Obviously, I am selling this car "AS IS". I make no guarantees of it's condition or it's roadworthiness other than my description below. Please bid on this car ONLY if you intend to follow through with the purchase. Thank you and good luck. Engine: A little cold blooded upon starting, however, once it warms up, it idles smoothly. Immediate throttle response. I don't remember this much low end torque when my room mate had one in college, then again, there are a lot of things I don't remember from college! Transmission: Pretty low tech transmission in it's day. Shifts up and down through the gears with no problem. No hard shifting and no slipping. Exterior/paint: Paint does not appear to be original. Might have been resprayed at some point. Poor quality repaint on front bumper cover. Passenger front fender appears to have been removed and possibly replaced at some point. No rust on frame or suspension components A little rust bubble on rocker panel the size of a golf ball, but no perforation yet. Interior: I am not sure if black vinyl is original or if it was redone at some time. It is in good shape with no signs of where or tears. Carpet looks original and is still in good condition. Dash has a vinyl cover. Rear parcel shelf with speaker covers in good shape. Headliner may be original and is still intact. Electrical: All lights, horn, fan, heater, radio are in working condition. Air Cond. does not cool, but blower is connected and operational. Suspension: I have only driven this car about 50 miles since it was freed from it's slumber. Car feels tighter than expected. Normal creaks and rattles you would expect from a 36 yr old car, but I did not feel I should be concerned about any handling issues. Tires/Brakes: Brakes are about 50%. Tires are almost new with a good 90% tread life left. Photos:
