Vehicle Detail
56 Chevy 2 DR Wagon (Not a Nomad). RARE find. Perfect project car. I bought the car in the mid 80s in Sacramento, Ca and drove it for several years until an electrical short killed the ignition and blew the 265 V-8 engine. Car had automatic with manual steering and brakes. This 56 Chev wagon has been stored inside and outside in eastern Washington State since 1992 and needs complete restoration. No Engine or transmission. Body is solid and the only rust thru I found was the rear floor board on the driver’s side. As shown in the pictures, the right rear was side swiped. Door window mechanisms worked fine when I took pictures last month. Windshield and drivers glass cracked. The front suspension (springs, ball joints, tie rods etc.) was rebuilt around 1991 and the gas tank was hot tanked, rear end cleaned and painted. The front bench seat frame and rails were in good shape. The rear seat (black & white upholstery I think?) is in much better shape than the front and can probably be cleaned up a used. Have most of the original parts with some spares.Actual mileage is unknown. (Had to input a made up number to post on EBay.) Buyer must provide seller with a non-refundable deposit of $500.00 within 48 hours of auction close. Buyer is responsible for pick up or shipping. Winning bidder has until end of month to move vehicle from storage lot or make arrangements with lot owner to rent space (Kennewick, WA). I have Certificate of Title from State of California and will sign over to buyer when paid in full. Good Luck on your bid! On Feb-18-15 at 19:07:53 PST, seller added the following information: I went thru the 56 Chevy Wagon this past weekend and here is an update. I changed out the driver side front tire that was flat. I did find rust thru on the floor panel near the dimmer switch. I pulled all the parts out of the cargo area and let the rear seat up. The seat is black and white and the cargo area is pretty solid. The wooden lid for the spare tire well is weathered and will need to be replaced. I was unable to open tailgate because the T handle is missing, and I did not have a square drive to turn the door mechanism from the inside. The speedometer reads 25793. I guess it is at least 127,593. A few bidders asked for more pictures of the right rear quarter panel and tailgate area, so I added some pics I had in my files. Thanks for looking at my posting and have a great day!
