Vehicle Detail
RESERVE HAS BEEN LOWERED - THIS CAR CAN BE BOUGHT FOR A STEAL!!! I am offering my Maverick Stallion up for sale. Stallions were built only one year, in 1976. This car has approximately 29,895 miles on the odometer and I believe it to be the actual miles on the car. I bought it from a gentleman in Tennessee that was thinning out a variety of old cars in his barn. This car had been sitting in the barn for over 20 years. It had belonged to his dad prior to his passing. The last photo in the series of pics show the condition of the car the day I purchased it. It's the pic of the car on the trailer. When I got the car home I changed all the belts, hoses, and fluids. The hoses I took off were the originals put on by Ford going by the part number on them and the staples holding the clamps to the hose which was an assembly line process so I know the hoses were original to the car. I have performed several other maintenance items on the car. The engine runs perfect, transmission shifts out perfect, and the car drives out excellent. Just as you would expect from a low mileage car. I wound up replacing the water pump and the radiator due to the long term storage along with a carb rebuild. I also replaced everything on the front brakes, rotors, pads, calipers, and hoses. I also had a set of duel exhaust installed just to get a better sound and performance. This car is equipped with 302, a/c, power steering, power disc brakes, and automatic transmission. Everything works great except the a/c. It seemed to be just low on freon but after putting a charge on it the compressor got quite noisy so I turned it off and haven't messed with it any more. I believe it will need a compressor. I stripped all of the paint (original paint) down to the bare metal. I found about 3 small quarter size areas that showed some rust. It was cut out and replaced with good metal. I have photos showing the entire disassembly and stripping process followed by the refinish process. I painted the car with PPG base coat/clear coat. I put a flattening agent in the clear coat on the black to give it the original satin look like it came with from Ford. Most people put glossy paint on the black when they repaint them but this satin look is the way the car looked from the factory. The good thing about this paint job is the fact that it DOES have clear coat on it and will last much longer than the original paint did. The floors are rock solid. The stitching on the front seat is going bad so there is some separating. The front seat needs to be completely recovered. You could probably get by without doing anything to the rear seat. I have a brand new ACC carpet set that goes with the car. I was going to install it when I had the seat recovered. The original dash pad is perfect which also shows that the car has been inside or it would be cracked up. The original door trim panels are excellent. I just put a brand new set of Cooper Cobra radials on it which have less than 500 miles on them. This car needs very little to complete it into a nice show car. I wouldn't be afraid to jump in and drive it anywhere. This car is listed for sale locally so I reserve the right to end this auction at any time in the event it sells.
