Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a 1960 Lincoln Continental Mark V Convertible. 1 of only 2,044 units built that year. It is one of the largest and longest (a little over 18 1/2 feet long) unibody American cars built. I have owned many 60 Continental Convertibles along with many other 58 through 60 Lincoln cars in the course of my life time. My first car was a 60 Continental Convertible when I was 15 years old. Drove that everywhere. 30 years ago we purchased our car lot and business and at that time I had the nicest 60 Continental Convertible to be had. We painted it Diamond Crystal Rose and couldnt help but win first place trophy wherever it was shown. We owned and drove it for 10 years but needed to buy some additional inventory when we purchased the lot so we sold it. It brought $20,000 back then. Now when they are done right they are commanding in the six figures. You had to be well off to buy one of these cars new. So 8 years ago I spotted this car in Texas. I planned on making it the same way as my last one but with too many irons in the fire and not enough time I have decided to let go. I have had it in dry storage until 3 years ago when I brought it back home. I hate seeing it tarped up with the weather getting to it. The car needs a complete restoration but has the one major important factor, It has great bone structure. It is ROCK solid and 99% rust free. The two door coves have a little rust starting and there was some surface rust that was starting to pit the top floor pans. We cleaned them up and painted them black to preserve them. They are still in decent solid shape. The motor and transmission is complete in the car, 430 V-8 Automatic.FACTORY AC CAR I can not tell you the status of the running gear. We were told that it had sat since 1989 in a garage in Alabama. Alabama plates still on it. When we got it here we filled the cylinders with oil but thats as far as we went. The master brake cylinder is the only thing missing under the hood. It was taken off to be rebuilt and never returned. The convertible top material is pretty much non existent. We hot wired the top motor to release it from the header and then we pulled the pins for the pistons and put the top down by hand. As far as the top is concerned, we had a ice storm a few years back and a few small tree limbs came down on the car. Thats how the top got ripped. They also put a couple of small dents on the stainless piece that surrounds the breezeway window, cracked the breezeway window glass, cracked the drivers door window and put a few dings on the deck lid that opens up for the top, and snapped a piece of the top frame on the drivers side. Both pieces are there and line up perfect with each other and just need to be arc welded. Glass is flat so it is easy to replace. Interior is all intact but was upholstered in a plain pattern as apposed to the big squares and buttons they came with. The car was originally white with black and white interior but was painted Bolero Red but has faded to a pumpkin orange in the Texas sun. Kind of gives it a cool patina. All the stainless and chrome parts are above average. I have the parts that you don't see on the car. The two stainless trim pieces that attach under the hood lip, two extra pieces of trim for the trunk lid, the hood star and the complete trunk lock and trim. Also the hard to find stainless trim that goes between the two fiberglass boots. It is still attached to the inside trunk lid where it belongs. Keys have come up among the missing but if I find them you will get them. There are many ways you could go with this car from an original restoration, custom or get it running and driving and enjoy it with the patina that it has.Leave the top down and fix it later. Very few of these cars have survived and the ones that are done are commanding the high dollars. Reserve will be set at a reasonable figure to allow everyone to get in on the ground floor. Also we have a 2 Door Lincoln Coupe and another 60 continental Convertible available to the buyer at a real fair price. The 2 Door Coupe is complete and has an excellent running gear. The Convertible is complete but has rust issues and drivers side rear frame rail towards the rear is bad. Would listen to a serious package price for all if interested. Selling on a Maine dealer bill of sale. If you need a title in your state we will register the car and with that and our proper dealer transfer paperwork you will receive a title. It will be $150 extra should you need this service. If you need anymore info or pics feel free to email or call us at 1-207-324-5568 Days or 1-207-432-2862 Eves and Sundays.
