Vehicle Detail
This listing is for a car I have driven almost 12 years now. I have replaced a few parts, nothing out of the ordinary. Recently I got my convertible top fixed and it just "broke" again. I think it needs the timing set since I replaced the motor and a few other parts. I just had a strange electrical problem and I thought it was the GM5 but had it diagnosed and it wasn't that. I'm not good enough to know how to fix it, and I'm worried that if I bring it to a shop they will charge me to fix all of these things. I just don't know what I'm doing. Maybe you do, and want a good quality engine with a fixer upper. I'm not going to be dishonest, so here are the problems with the car: The volume knob on the radio doesn't work, but the one on the steering wheel does. The front leather seats need to be replaced only the leather part but the seats work perfectly fine. The plastic on the headrest drivers side rear is gone. Leather on stick shift worn down. Drivers side leather armrest missing. Yaw sensor bad, but doesn't affect anything. The convertible top was just repaired and replaced the motor, latches, rewired that one place where all convertibles go bad, but now the convertible top is stuck at the top. I think it's a timing issue but not sure how to reset it and got sick of messing with it. The GM5 issue I described above where there is some electrical problem that I don't know about...which started from me trying to fix my top. I unplugged the battery and then tried to look at a few fuses, I may have screwed something up but I don't have machines to diagnose it. There's a bunch of lights on in my picture of the mileage but that is just because the key was turned once only, those lights aren't all on usually. The "All windows down" switch broke off, so you have to replace it or do the windows separately (or reach your finger down to push the latch). I tried to take pictures of all of the issues...I think I got them all. The reason the car's leather is messed up is because it was a convertible in Florida and I couldn't put enough conditioner on the leather to save the seats, then they got worse. It's just leather, you can just cover it like I did or fix it for a few hundred bucks. So here's the bottom line. You have to fix the electrical problem which is preventing the windows, windshield wipers, interior lights etc. The issue is the GM5 unit or something communicating with it. I think. Google the GM5 functions and you will see that those things are all part of that unit. If you do fix that you will be left with a car that works perfectly but has bad leather on the front 2 seats, a few random things missing (drivers side arm rest, volume control, etc). Then, if you want it to look nice you fix the leather on the stick shift, the front two seats and the armrest and you have an awesome car that looks great. Go further and fix the yaw sensor, the convertible top timing or other wiring issue or whatever it is and the volume control on the radio and honestly it's a 2002 m3 just over 100k miles that runs perfectly and is awesome. I'm sad to see it go but I just have to. I moved to nyc and keeping the car here is such a pain, I'm going to drop my insurance and start renting from now on. I can drive the car to you in NYC, Philly, or DC area. Sorry I forgot to mention the car was in an accident. It was hit from behind about 5 or 6 years ago and was repaired. Again, all of those parts are replaced and newer which I think is great. The engine wasn't touched or damaged or anything. I also replaced a 5k part which is only on the M3, I forgot what it is called though. So that is new and you don't or won't have to replace that which you might if you bought another used m3. I kept up on the oil changes since my buddy works on BMWs and I kept up on the engine stuff. Just didn't keep up on the cosmetic stuff cause I never really cared that much personally. I'm not interesting in hiding anything so just ask, I'll tell you honestly. Hey, if you want to fix it and sell it on ebay go ahead and you'll probably make a few grand because I'm not going to spend the time or money fixing the issues that I don't know how to fix.On Nov-18-14 at 06:44:29 PST, seller added the following information: ***UPDATE: Vehicle title is CLEAN. I misunderstood what that meant. My car was hit from behind and parts were replaced. I assumed I should put rebuilt, but a friend of mine let me know that's not correct. My title is a clean title.
