Vehicle Detail
This is a 1965 Dodge Polara I 'rescued' out of a glorified junk yard. Originally from the factory, the car was blue and had a vinyl top and bucket seats, column shift torqueflite, with a 2 bbl 383 on 14 inch wheels, am radio heat and factory A/C. I do have various things original to the car that will come with it. The car was stripped, some homegrown body work was applied, the interior was rejuvenated. The engine was rebuilt. Machine shop receipts available if necessary. The block was bored .030 over. Polished crank, new bearings everywhere, new forged flat top aluminum pistons, unleaded seats and new valves in resurfaced 516 heads. The cam and lifters were replaced with a new purple shaft 268/284dur 450/458lift roadrunner 383 HP cam. The intake in an edelbrock performer rpm. The carb is a holley 3310 750cfm vacuum secondary with dual fuel. 1 inch plenum spacer underneath it. A 3 inch air cleaner with a inch drop base fits it under the hood. Comfortably at 350 hp plus. Easily could reach 425 with headers and bigger heads. Aluminum radiator w/ tranny cooler and overflow. New hoses, new autolite 85 plugs, new wires, new oil pump, new fuel pump, holley fuel regulator, new Accel ignition coil and distributor, new orange mopar edu, everything under the hood is new. Original refurbed power steering and alternator, new belts. Cleaned repaired and sealed original gas tank, new sending unit seals and float, etc. Cleaned hard line to pump. Factory iron exhaust manifolds, true dual exhaust dumps out each side in front of the rear tires, super 10 flow master mufflers and 14 inch thrush cherry bombs on each side. The tranny is the original, and aside from a fluid change, new pump seal, and new filter kit, is untouched. The car comes with a spare 67 tranny, with the linkage instead of the cable shift. I planned on putting a floor shifter in it at some point. The driveshaft has new ujoints in the rear, and the 8 3/4 rear end has a very tall 2.76 highway gear in it. It cruises great on the highway. Floors were patched in small areas, done well. No more rust. New factory carpet, re-upholstered bench seats front and rear, and reconditioned dash. The headliner is in excellent original shape, as is most all the trim. Various areas were touched up or painted. The horn, lights, signals, brake, cig lighter, wipers, all work. The radio is dead it seems. The only gremlin I have is the right turn signal lights up when you apply the brake. A short I have not yet found. The rear air shocks are new, both sets of leafs have been checked, new brake lines and hoses all around, the front end has a new Scarebird Disc Brake kit up front, with a new master cylinder as well as the obvious new calipers, rotors, wheel bearings, etc. New rebuilt rear drum brakes, new pads and springs etc, all hardware and drums cleaned and painted. Proportioning valve controls rear braking vs front. New Cragar D-Window 15 inch wheels, with new General Altimax HP 235/75/15 that fir the car very well. The stance is achieved by lowering the torsion bars w/ adjustable control arms and maintaining low pressure in the rear shocks. All bushings in suspension in good shape. K&K Insurance #71 Bobby Isaac theme. 6 point roll cage with the front pieces included to make it 8. New primer and paint mixed at NAPA, Ford Poppy red is the color the team cars were painted. I used gloss red on the roll cage, under the hood, in the door jams etc. Car runs great, I love driving it to work. It never gets hot, carb tuned perfect, ignition is great. It is not however, a show car, or in any way ''perfect''. I did most everything myself, so this is a hot rod and therefore is priced as such.
