Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a 1958 T5 Porsche 356 A Coupe. The motor, chassis, doors and trunk lid are the original factory parts making this Porsche a rare matching numbers car. Car number: 104577, motor number: P-70-721. This car was complete before disassembly; it was an excellent driver and ran great (refer to the red car in the scanned photo). All the original parts are included, plus a lot of new replacement parts purchased from Stoddard. The motor is the stock 1958 1600 Normal motor complete and in great condition, only has about 5,000 miles on it since it was fully rebuilt. The transmission is in good shape as well. As you can see, the bodywork was started on this car, but the project was not completed due to the failing health of the restoration expert. The rust was all cut free from the car, and there is an extensive array of high quality Stoddard sheet metal to replace everything that was cut out. The floor pan had quite a bit of work done to it, and it’s in pretty nice shape (refer to the scanned photo of the floor pan in the pictures). According to the original cardex this Porsche was originally painted silver with brown leather interior. This was a complete car before it was taken apart, and it still has about 98% of the parts. The only items missing to complete this project are the carpet and upholstery kits. There are a lot of nice parts and rare treasures in here. Everything that you see, and everything that I have listed will go with the car. New Parts: · Front body grills · Front turn signal assembly · Sport muffler · Rear taillight assembly · Windshield washer bag · After market tool kit · Front bumper guards · Rear bumper guards with outer guards · Outside mirror · All correct fasteners (Stoddard) · Front and rear deco strips · Rocker panel deco strips · License light assembly · Headliner · All new windshield and door rubbers throughout Original Parts: · Left and right door glass · Left and right quarter glass windows · Very rare exterior vent wing window assemblies · Rear window · Windshield (has a small star) · Dash pad · Left and right headlight assembly · Door handles and interior window latches · Rear engine lid grill · All bumper guards · Rear vent window chrome · Original gauges · Speaker grill · Turn signal assembly · Horn ring · Rear bumper over riders · Front and rear bumpers and brackets · Deck lid and hood hinges · Left and right fender braces · All the garnish moldings · Shifter · Clutch and brake pedal · Miscellaneous sheet metal for floor pans · Side rail front and rear inner panels · Front frame member · Windshield wiper assembly · Left and right door regulators · Windshield moldings · Front rubber mat · Complete, rebuilt and running motor · Original painted wheels and hubcaps · Gas tank and straps · Stock jack · Front floor boards · Spare tire with belt · Detailed notes and drawings provided by restoration expert This is a very nice, rare and valuable project car looking for just the right person to finish it. These A model Porsches are the most popular because of their fenders. There were only 3,369 356 A coupes made in 1958. Now, 56 years later, there are only a handful of these old 356’s left, and they have definitely been appreciating in value making them excellent investments. Thousands of dollars were spent on all these Stoddard parts, and there is plenty of value in them alone. Potential buyers please be aware there are too many parts to fit them all inside the car, so you are going to have to plan on shipping the car and about a pickup load of parts. On Oct-16-14 at 21:30:21 PDT, seller added the following information: Every single piece of sheet metal to complete this restoration from the ground up was purchased from Stoddard at a cost of approximately $9000. All rubber, trim, badges, script and fasteners are of the highest quality, or purchased , and included. The motor is original and rebuilt top and bottom, and alone worth $8,000-$10,000. This project car is for the Porsche purist who is going for the tip-top condition and quality restoration. The owner suggests completing the restoration with original silver on the leather upholstery. A copy of the Cardex file that was requested from Porsche cars North America in Reno, Nevada is included to document color, upholstery and serial numbers. If done by a quality craftsman this has the potential to be a concours quality car.On Oct-21-14 at 12:38:35 PDT, seller added the following information: This Porsche, being a 356 A, is not a T5 but a T2.
