THIS IS ONE CLEAN MERCEDES BOTH INSIDE AND OUT!
THIS 500SL HAS A NICE STRAIGHT BODY WITH NO RUST. THE GLOSSY GREEN PAINT LOOKS VERY NICE. THE CAR WAS REPAINTED SEVERAL YEARS AGO, BUT STILL LOOKS GREAT. THERE ARE JUST A FEW VERY TINY CHIPS AND SCRATCHES HERE AND THERE, BUT THEY ARE BARELY NOTICEABLE.
THE ALLOY WHEELS LOOK EXCELLENT! THE TIRES HAVE ABOUT 70% OF THEIR TREAD REMAINING.
THE 5.0L-V8 ENGINE FIRES RIGHT UP AND RUNS EXCELLENT! IT HAS QUICK ACCELERATION AND A SMOOTH IDLE! THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTS THROUGH THE GEARS SMOOTHLY AND THIS MERCEDES IS A BLAST TO DRIVE!
THIS MERCEDES HAS A CURRENT VA STATE INSPECTION (EXPIRES 4/15), BUT WILL NOT PASS AGAIN DUE TO THE FOLLOWING ISSUES: THE RIGHT-HAND TIE-ROD ASSEMBLY IS BAD, THE WHEEL BEARINGS NEED ADJUSTMENT AND THE FRONT ROTORS ARE BELOW MINIMUM SPECS. THIS CAR WILL BE SOLD TO NON-VIRGINIA RESIDENTS WITH THE CURRENT STICKER ON THE CAR, BUT VA RESIDENTS WILL GET THE CAR WITH A "REJECTION" STICKER AND WILL HAVE TO FIX THE PROBLEMS BEFORE IT WILL PASS. ANY COST TO REPAIR THE STATE INSPECTION ISSUES ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNING BIDDER.
ONE OTHER POSSIBLE MECHANICAL ISSUE (NOT A STATE INSPECTION ITEM) IS THAT THE HARDTOP WILL NOT RELEASE (THUS, WE CAN'T SEE THE CONDITION OF THE SOFT TOP). OTHER THAN THE AFOREMENTION ISSUES, THIS 500SL IS IN VERY GOOD MECHANICAL CONDITION!

THERE ARE NO DASH CRACKS, THE WOOD TRIM LOOKS GREAT, THE SEATS LOOK GOOD (THE DRIVER'S SEAT HAS SOME WEAR ON THE SIDE BOLSTER & THE PASSENGER SEAT HAS LOOSE STITCHING ON THE BOTTOM CUSHION), THE DOOR PANELS LOOK EXCELLENT, AND THE CARPET/FLOORMATS ARE VERY CLEAN! THE ONLY ISSUE WITH THE INTERIOR IS THAT THE HEADLINER OF THE HARD TOP COMING UNGLUED AND HANGING LOOSE (SEE PICS BELOW). ANY AUTO UPHOLSTERY SHOP CAN PUT A NEW HEADLINER IN FOR ABOUT $100.
