Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1963 Chevy Impala SS. The engine is a Chevy 327/300 turbo fire with camel hump heads. The engine has been rebuilt and balanced and has a little over 3000 miles on it. All numbers match. The rear is a 373 positraction. All of the accessories are in perfect working condition - the clock, the factory installed Delco am radio, the cigarette lighter, the 3 speed fan for the heater and the classic rear seat speaker. The SS featured bucket seats with a center console, beautifully chromed. A factory installed tachometer is centered above the steering column. This car is equipped with a factory 4 speed transmission and the classic SS 4 on the floor shifter. The interior has been immaculately restored in the classic Chevy turquoise blue with pleated door panels and chrome accents. The headliner is mint and no one has smoked in this car. It even smells like a new car (see photos). I purchased this car from the personal collection of classic muscle cars from a fellow named Richard Olson. Richard is almost a legend at Winterport Raceway in ME. This 327 Chevy was the tamest car in his stable. The car was restored by Richard around 2009. The car is tight and it is a cruiser. It has been up on several lifts and all the mechanics of commented on the wonderful condition underneath, no rust & no bondo. I failed to mention that Richard did install an over sized exhaust system, dual exhaust of course. This car can only receive the appreciation it deserves by being driven - no shimmy or vibration, let go of the steering wheel and the car doesn't wander at all. Now here is the issue with car and i was made aware of it when I bought the car. The painter although very experienced had stage 4 Hodgkin Disease when he painted the car and the car was not properly prepped so I have been plagued with paint lifting and bubbling and this is not because of a plastic surface which a lot of people have a tendency to blame for problems with paint jobs. I have spent about $1500 on band aid touch up jobs and the car looks great but whoever buys this car will be facing future issues with the paint. As far as structure and mechanical integrity you won't find a better car but again paint is an issue. If I can provide more information, provenance, or photos let me know. This 1963 Chevy SS is a gem. Even the young kids give me a thumbs up when i drive by. Also the car has Moon gauges, amp meter, oil pressure and engine temperature and a working "wolf whistle".BTW, no power steering. This car has given me a lot of enjoyment. It is a pleasure to drive and the compliments on its appearance a bonus. Buyer is responsible for pick up. PA residents should be aware that this car has an Antique Title and tag which is transferable.
