Vehicle Detail
2003 Honda Civic 2 Door DX Coupe This car is being relisted due to a no-show, no-pay deadbeat. This car is a mechanic's special. 5 spd, a/c, Factory CD. All stock, unmolested. It is a tough decision to sell this car because I have otherwise kept all service up to date and it has been an excellent vehicle. However, this car has one critical issue that I don’t have the time or space to work on, but if done will definitely get the car to 300,000+ miles. It is driven regularly (~500 miles / week) until I started getting the check-engine light. Since then, I’ve driven it less, trying to figure out what’s wrong. It starts fine and runs the interstate without hesitation, getting 40 mpg. Body & Interior The body and interior are in decent and solid condition though it’s not winning any awards. There are no tears in the seats, but the headlinerwill need attention soon. The back seats fold flat allowing for so much hauling. You’d be surprised what you can get in one if you have to. These are incredible little cars. It has commuted reliably for 3 years and has some minor paint issues and a couple very small dents. –No rust. New windshield was installed early last year. Mechanical Aside from the issues which are outlined below, the car is in good mechanical condition and always had good servicing. Clutch is new with about 1000 miles and shifts well and with incredible ease, just as you would expect from a Honda. Now for the bad... An internal engine issue is causing the car to throw a P0301 code, Misfire #1 cylinder. This usually shows itself in a rough idle. Low compression in #1 cylinder is at about 85 psi. All other cylinders hit between 170 and 180. The car does not smoke at all and pulls great on the interstate. This issue could be bad piston ring or valve seal though I’m leaning towards piston ring as I’ve replaced the injectors and swapped the coils around. Recent Service History New clutch, new input shaft bearing, new rear main seal, new front struts, new spark plugs. The brakes are fine, the tires have good tread. Oil is changed fanatically every 5000 miles. CV axles and catalytic converter were done 1 year ago, and the timing belt/water pump was done 3 yrs ago. Sale and Pick-Up $500 deposit at close of auction with balance due within 15 days of close of auction. I am confident that the car is capable of making a several-hundred mile trip if the new owner preferred to drive the vehicle away. Car must be claimed within 15 days of purchase.
