Vehicle Detail

I am offering for sale my beautiful, LOW MILEAGE original 1953 Studebaker Model 14G - F5 Champion Regal 2door with NO RESERVE. The car is totally original and in superb condition throughout. It has its original drive-train with a flat in-line six-cylinder engine. The mohair interior is completely original and in immaculate condition. The car drives like new! It idles quietly, brakes straight, and accelerates briskly. The paint and chrome both present flawlessly. The engine compartment is clean and dry and looks as it did in 1953. The trunk has its original carpeted mat. The engine has wonderful oil pressure and does not run hot. The Climatizer (heater/ defroster) both function quite well. It is wonderfully economic and runs well on regular pump gas. Side opening vents bring fresh air into the cabin. AM push button tube radio is quite a sight! She enjoys 5 matching handsome white walls, a real treat to keep clean! You will not be disappointed in this fine and rare Studebaker two-door hard top. The Champion Regal 2 door hardtop was the finest of the 3 different model 2door sedans produced. The base car, F1 was called a Custom. The 2nd level of trim F3, was a Deluxe, and the finest, F5 was a Regal. This is a real Regal. Check out the photo of the ID plate. They were produced for 2 years only and fewer than 13000 were made in 53. Few exist today. The car weighs in at 2700 lbs. The straight Flathead produces a healthy 85 HP displacing 170 CI. The automatic transmission operates flawlessly and carries the car to highway speeds in a matter of seconds. As the 3speed Borg Warner was only introduced in 1950 it is quite rare to find one. This is a totally rust free car which has lived its life this way. Not a welders nightmare! The genius design from South Bend Indiana is considered a Milestone Car, and as such is quite valuable. A word or two about the mechanics. Most of the mechanicals have been renewed or replaced. There are no aftermarket or reproduced parts on the car. Whether inspecting from the engine bay, trunk, or beneath, everything is sound. No rust or any indication of an accident. With respect to its mileage, is it real? I believe it to be true and I will tell you why. The interior appears to only have been sat in on the drivers side of the bench. The engine and trunk compartments just look good and old. Not restored and new. The carpeting is wonderful, but with the perfect patina of age and sun exposure. The brake and gas pedals are as new. You go find replacement rubbers! I have received criticism on two items. #1 the side mirrors. I have been told that there were no right side mirrors in 53 and that the style is incorrect. I don't know. #2 I have been told that the front parking light assemblies appear to have been painted. Apparently they should be chromed. Again, you decide! What you do not have to worry about is the drive home. Fly in, and drive it home. No worries! Feel free to contact me at (914) 403-1768. The car is located in the scenic hamlet of Bedford Village, NY, just west of Stamford CT. For you New Yorkers, you might be comforted by the fact that Bedford lies only 42 miles north of Times Square. In closing, I am a seasoned collector of only fine cars. I began my hobby in 1978 when as a 24 year old man, I had the good fortune to study with one of the greats, Ed Jurist, owner of the Vintage Car Store in Nyack, NY. Mr. Jurist taught me life lessons. Only start with good examples, and with marques and models which inspire emotion to its owner. (Actually, we are really stewards of these properties. One day they will be in other hands.) This is why all these years later I follow his advice. Keep it original and as unrestored as possible. Please remember that this is a NO RESERVE auction. The car will sell next Sunday. On the subject of trades, I would consider the possibility of an interesting car or motorcycle. If you have transportation needs, feel free to contact my dear friend, Dave Lambert of Transport Masters in Boca Raton, FL. He will gladly give you a free estimate for professional and courteous service (561) 482 7789. Come and see the car or send a representative to check it out. Please, take it for a ride on our beautiful Fall foliaged country roads. You will not be disappointed. Enough said! Bid with your heart. Take E bay seriously. I do. I am at 100% customer satisfaction and intend to stay that way. Please have the necessary funds ready so as to be able to close on Monday. Thank you, John Louis. (914) 403-1768. On Oct-13-14 at 12:29:58 PDT, seller added the following information: Apparently it seems necessary to illuminate my position with respect to the sale of this beautiful surviving Studebaker. #1 the car is green. not white blue yellow or black. it has always has been. green. green everywhere. #2 the car is an automatic. 3 speed Borg Warner. original to the car. not a manual. (my mistake or perhaps e bays) #3 the model: Champion Regal 2 Door Hardtop Sedan. ( not a coupe. not Starlight or a Starliner. not even an Olds Starflight. no stars!) #4 the vin is correct as our the numbers on the ID body tag. do your own due diligence. #5 the car has pillars as accurately and honestly depicted in the photos. In closing, thanks to the 13 different bidders in just the first 19 hours of the auction. You will not be disappointed. Come and see and drive the car. No shakes or rattles which were the downfall of the more curvacious and expensive models. This one just happens to work well. As far as honesty goes, I really am a fireman. 20 years Bedford Village and a NYS EMT 12 years. The car is well older than me! I wish that there was an equal amount of truth and honesty as appears in this add as in our elected officials including our current president. Happy Columbus Day to all! sincerely, Firefighter/EMT John Louis On Oct-17-14 at 18:15:44 PDT, seller added the following information: As we enter the final weekend of bidding, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the enormous amount of people who have viewed this add. Close to 2000 views/ 143 persons have it on their watch list and 51 bids by 16 different persons both in the US and Canada. Thank you. With fewer than 48 hours left allow me to encourage you all to consider your bids seriously. This is a wonderful, fine Studebaker built in the golden era of the marque. You are certain to be as thrilled to have this car in your garage as I have been. We are all after all only stewards of these fine works. It is on display in Bedford Village all day Saturday and can be seen on Sunday at the car show Caffeine & Carburetors in New Canaan CT at Waveny Park, this Sunday morning. 8am. Thank you all. John Louis 914 403 1768 On Oct-18-14 at 09:13:59 PDT, seller added the following information: Gentlemen. These are my final comments. We are approaching the final day of the auction. It is at this time traditionally that you bidders must exercise discretion. The current bid is at 7000 dollars. While this number is disappointing to me, I will honor my commitment to the process. This means that I will allow the auction to proceed to the end. Please! Do not bid assuming that you will be over bid. You must be confident to pay the amount of the high bid, otherwise, do not offer it. Obvious? Correct? On the subject of the car. I started it today after an absence of use for ten days. One pump of the accelerator and boom! It fired right up and assumed a smooth and quiet idle. Perfect. The transmission shifted into reverse with no delays or clunking. Again. Perfect. These were simple well built cars. Built by Americans! Good luck to all of you. And God Bless America.
