Vehicle Detail
1964 Saab Quantum IV Formula S, race car. Main photo is a restored Quantum's and NOT THE ACTUAL CAR FOR SALE !! ( But it will look like that when you are done....right! :) This car was owned by the Late Bertil Sollenskog of Chicago, Illinois. I am helping his Widow Pat, sell it. Bertil had started restoring this car in between working on his 1966 Saab Monte Carlo that holds a Land Speed Record at Bonneville Salt Flats. He had the frame sand blasted and re-primed and ready for assembly. He repaired any spot that looked bad and as you can see from the photos did a real nice job with it. As you can see from the pictures it is in total pieces and will need complete re-assembly. Many of the sub components have already been cleaned and or rebuilt. The car has NO engine but is set up for the 3 cylinder Saab two stroke set. There is a set of triple carbs with manifold for the car. It does had a 3 cylinder transmission that goes with it. Also the from caliper are blasted and ready to assemble with new pistons. It appears to me all the major components (less engine) are there including the body. The "internal frame fuel cells" have been plugged and Bertil planned on a much safer external fuel cell. You will need to use the photos to determined what is there and what it not. NO GUARANTEE as to what is missing. I hope you can understand this project is NOT complete and may be missing parts. Bid accordingly. I saw the car this summer and took photos of all the parts I could find. There is another storage tub marked "Quantum Springs" that appears to have all the front and rear springs in it but I do not have a photo of it as it was in a different location. Again, this is a project car that someone else took apart so plan on missing parts and lots of questions. The car is in a storage garage and will need to be removed as soon as possible as there is a $200 a month storage charge. Later pickups will need to pay this fee. (we can talk about this) I can help answer a few so feel free to contact me, Tom Donney, 515-368-7222. Thanks and good luck. NOTE: ebay makes you choose a TITLE choice but since this is a race car there is NO TITLE, just a bill of Sale. The reserve is less than $1,500 BTWOn Oct-12-14 at 11:25:32 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello, Update some info on this car. I got a call today from the Leon who sold the car to Bertil. Leon had installed a V4 in the frame for his use. Bertil bought it to convert it back to a 3 cylinder two stroke, which he did. I also talked to Jim, Bertil's close friend and SCCA racer today, who helped Bertil redo the frame and refit the 3 cylinder engine last winter. They did all the re-welding and fab work before painting the frame. The used a empty two stroke block and transmission plus specs Bertil had received from someone on the original frame to restore to Specs. From what I could see (and pics show this) all work was done to a high standard with professional welders. He said they spent about 2 months working on it. Anyone who knew Bertil knows he (and Jim) did quality work. Any questions feel free to call me. thanks......tom
