Vehicle Detail
For sale by owner is a 1981 Chevy Camaro. It is a base model with a 6 cylinder motor which will need to be replaced. Car has 54349 original miles. Yes thats right original miles. I purchased this car 11 years ago on E-bay with around 28000 original miles. I used this car regularly and my kids used it as a daily driver. Three months ago I replaced fenders, fender extensions and had car painted by Maaco. Not there cheapest paint job, it cost me $1200 for paint and sealer.Car looks real good from 10 feet away but shows some flaws in paint and body work but it is a nice little car. I just want to make clear this is no show car. Car has original everything and everything worked until kids blew up motor. Car had some oil leaks and they didn't keep an eye on it. water pump leaked and Daughter that had her license for 3 days drove it with almost no oil and no coolant in it, so you know what happened. It is pretty normal for a 33 year old car to have some leaks. If kids had checked we would all still be driving this car. Since owning car I have replaced the following. Gas tank and all gas lines, Transmission cooling lines, all brake lines, heater core, front springs, power steering lines, rug, head liner, ignition switch, rear view mirror exhaust from cat back, water pump brand new(replaced to run motor to check it). These repairs were all done as needed over last 11 years. Interior is in nice condition but isn't perfect. Driver seat has a rip about the size of a raisin, clock missing knob to adjust time but clock works, rear deck lid is pealing, and rear plastic is fading but not that bad, door panels are ok but not perfect. You don't think you are inside a 33 year old car, it is very good for her age, better than most that you will find The following are items that could use attention. Drivers door hinges will need to be rebuilt or replaced because door is starting to sag a little (very common with these cars). Door works but sticks sometimes. Drivers seat has a very small rip about the size of a raisin. Car has original mats from Chevy but they will need to be replaced, It is an A/C car, will need to be charged but compressor works (I shorted compressor to check that it ran). Missing lower grill but to grill in nice shape. I tried to show it in 1 spot where paint has began to bubble but not very noticeable (drivers side quarter panel above wheel). This car has some bondo on it and rot will return someday but Maaco applied 2 coats of sealer to it before painting. I would hate to see someone cut this car up for parts because it is a nice car that gets a lot of comments from people, but if that is what you need. This car is meant for a mechanic to drop in motor and have a nice little car. I wish I could do it myself but I do not have the skill to do that and it costs too much to pay someone to do it. I have tried to describe this car as honestly as possible and would prefer that you come and take a look at it before buying so you know exactly what you are getting and there are no surprises. Pay-pal must be used for payment, No warranty is expressed or implied with this car. This is a no reserve auction. Car is for sale locally and reserve the right to end auction at any time. Any shipping is the responsibility of buyer and would prefer not to ship it but will make car available to shipping company at my home. Any questions about car you can call me on my cell phone 718-619-5716 and my name is Mike. Car is located in central Jersey not far from Great Adventure.
