Vehicle Detail
I bought this vehicle as a restoration project, but a back injury has forced me to sell. It appears to be an all original survivor, and allegedly was parked for 20 years in a barn in rural Michigan. Car is in overall good, solid condition for a car of it's age. The car drove fine when I purchased it, but after sitting for 3 years in my garage, it will crank, but not start. I have not done any restoration since purchasing the car except for removing the dealer installed seat covers, which has revealed the original upholstery in great condition. Car has a clean Michigan title. For the sake of representing the car as accurately as possible, I'm listing detailed information below: 283 2-bbl V-8, engine code FO7I4JD. Assumed to be original enginePowerglide Transmission55197 miles shown on odometer. I cannot verify if this is the original mileage, but if I had to guess, I'd say that it isCar had dealer installed seat covers that I removed due to being worn. What you see in the pictures is the original upholstery that was underneath the covers. Seat upholstery is in very good condition, but will need to be vacuumed/cleaned to remove dust (as seen in photos) that worked through the seat coversCarpet is in good condition, but has one bleached out spot as seen in photosAll seat belts work, as do all switches, window/lock mechanisms, the radio, etcCar has some patches of surface rust as seen in photos. While I am not an auto body expert, the areas of surface rust do not appear to be rusted through, and are solid when you push on them. There are three areas on the car where I can see that the metal is rusted through. The first is on the driver's side quarter panel as seen in photo. The other two areas are in the trunk behind the rear wheel wells (also seen in photos). These areas are approximately 7 inches by 4 inches, and are also located on top of the rear body mount. I have looked into it, and most of the car restoration catalogs sell inexpensive patch panels to correct this specific area in the trunk. There are also a few "pinholes" of rust in the trunk. Holes are about 1/8 - 3/16 inch in diameter, and the area around the pinholes seems fine There is an area of the rear deck lid where it meets the rear window that has a little water damage. It appears that at some point in the last 50 years, a little water got back there, but does not seem to be recentThe best I can tell, the original floor pans are solid. They do have some surface rust on the underside, as does the majority of the underside of the vehicle (as seen in photos). I saw no areas on the underside of the vehicle where anything is rusted or rusting through. The frame also appears to be very solid. Car sits on older Chevrolet rally wheels and BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. Both are in good shapeCar still has what appears to be the original bias ply spare tire. Not sure if the jack pictured in photo is originalI require a $500 deposit via PayPal within 24 hours of auction close. Furthermore, I will not release the vehicle for pick up or shipment until the vehicle payment has cleared my bank.
