1966 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE THIS AUCTION IS FOR A 1966 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM AN ESTATE. THE OWNER, WHO WAS THE SECOND OWNER, HAD PASSED AWAY SEVERAL YEARS AGO AND HIS WIDOW DECIDED TO SELL THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN THE EARLY 1980'S BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER. HE HAD STARTED A RESTORATION IN THE 80'S, BUT NEVER WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE THE RESTORATION. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN STORED IN HIS GARAGE SINCE THEN.THE MUSTANG IS SILVER FROST WITH BLACK INTERIOR AND BLACK TOP. IT IS A 289-2V AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE SILVER FROST IS A RELATIVLEY RARE COLOR IN THE SCHEME OF MUSTANG COLORS IN 1966. FROM OUR RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THAT THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY 3% BUILT IN THIS COLOR. THE MUSTANG IS READY AND DESERVING TO HAVE THE RESTORATION COMPLETED.THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD STARTED A RESTORATION ON THE VEHICLE. FROM SPEAKING TO HIS FAMILY AND FROM SOME OF THE PAPERWORK THAT WAS RECEIVED WITH THE VEHICLE, IT APPEARS HE HAD THE METAL WORK COMPLETED BY A LOCAL BODY SHOP AT THE TIME. THE MUSTANG HAS NOS QUARTERS INSTALLED AS WELL AS NOS REAR TAIL PANEL AND TRUNK FLOORS. IT APPEARS THAT ANY REPLACED SHEETMETAL WAS NOS. FROM INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS SOME FLOOR REPAIR AS WELL AS REPAIR TO A FEW SPOTS ON THE RAILS. A NEW BATTERY APRON WAS ALSO INSTALLED. YOU WILL NOTE FROM THE PHOTOS THE BODY LINES, ESPECIALLY THE REAR VALANCE TO THE REAR QUARTERS AND THE DOOR TO QUARTER FITAMENT,WHEN WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, IT WAS SITTING ON A BODY CART AND THE FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION WAS NOT ON THE VEHICLE. NONE OF THE BOLT-ON SHEETMETAL WAS ON THE VEHICLE EITHER. THE FIRST THING WE DID WAS TO MAKE THE VEHICLE A ROLLER. WE PUT THE SUSPENSION BACK UNDER THE VEHICLE. PLEASE NOTE FINAL ADJUSTMENT AND ALIGNMENT WAS NOT COMPLETED AS WE WERE JUST MAKING THE VEHICLE A ROLLER FOR THE PURPOSE OF MOVING IT. THE VEHICLE CAME WITH, WHAT APPEARS TO BE, MOST OF THE ORIGINAL PARTS. SOME OF THE PARTS MAY NEED REPLACED OR REFURBISHED DEPENDING ON LEVEL OF RESTORATION YOU DESIRE.THE REAR SUSPENSION WAS CLEANED UP AND INSTALLED. THE OWNER HAD A NEW SET OF REAR SPRINGS. IT ALSO HAD NOS U-BOLTS. NO SHOCKS WERE INSTALLED NOR WAS ANY OF THE BRAKES REPLACED. THE FRONT SUSPENSION HAS NEW COIL SPRINGS, UPPER CONTROL ARMS, UPPER BALL JOINTS, SPRING SADDLES, STRUT ROD BUSHINGS AND STABILIZER BAR RUBBERS. THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS ARE ORIGINAL. THERE IS A NEW CENTER LINK AS WELL AS TIE ROD ENDS. THE VEHICLE HAD SOME LIGHT OXIDATION ON THE PANELS, SO WE SANDED DOWN AND SHOT SOME PRIMER ON THE VEHICLE. YOU WILL OBVIOUSLY NEED TO GO OVER THE PANELS FOR FINAL PAINT PREPARATION TO YOUR DESIRED LEVEL OF RESTORATION. WE ALSO INSTALLED MOST OF THE SHEET METAL ON THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO FRONT VALANCE AND THE FRONT FENDERS ON THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE REPLACED. THE LEFT FENDER WAS AN AFTERMARKET AND DOES NOT FIT LIKE AN ORIGINAL. THE RIGHT FENDER IS A FORD FENDER BUT APPEARS TO HAVE RUST REPAIR AND HAS CURRENT RUST ON THE PANEL. THE RIGHT DOOR IS FORD AND HAS A RUST HOLE AS WELL AS DRILLED HOLES IN THE SKIN. THE UNDERSIDE AND SHELL ARE RUST FREE. A PERFECT CANDIDATE FOR A NEW SKIN. THE LEFT DOOR IS FORD AND RUST FREE. THE QUARTERS ARE AGAIN, NOS. THE HOOD AND TRUNK LID ARE ORIGINAL AND ARE EXCELLENT. WE FOUND JUST A SMALL DING ON THE TRUNK AND THE HOOD WAS STRAIGHT. PHOTOS OF THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HOOD, TRUNK AND DOORS HAVE BEEN ADDED. THE WINDSHIELD AND DOOR GLASS ARE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE QUARTER GLASS WAS MISSING BUT THE FRAMES ARE WITH THE CAR.THE INTERIOR WAS INSTALLED FOR EASE OF TRANSPORT. THE CAR COMES WITH A VERY NICE FORD DASH PAD AND THE ORIGINAL STEERING WHEEL HAS NO DAMAGE OR CRACKS. THE CAR HAS STANDARD INTERIOR ORIGINALLY. THE PONY BUCKETS WERE ADDED BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER. THE INTERIOR WILL NEED NEW UPHOLSTERY. THE TOP IS ORIGINAL AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT. THE TOP RUBBERS ARE ACTULAYY VERY NICE AND USABLE. THE TOP IS A POWER TOP. WE DISCONNECTED THE PUMPS DO MAKE SURE THEY WOULD NOT BE DAMAGED BY MANUALLY PUTTING THE TOP DOWN.ALSO INCLUDED IS THE ORIGINAL ENGINE WHICH HAD BEEN REBUILT. THE ENGINE WAS ON A STAND. WE PULLED THE VALVE COVERS AND THE PAN AND FOUND NEW INTERNAL COMPONENTS INCLUDING TIMING CHAIN, PISTONS, OIL PUMP, VALVES, ETC....... THE ENGINE TURNS OVER AND WE MANUALLY PUMPED OIL THROUGH THE CYLINDERS. IT HAS NICE CHROME VALVE COVERS AND ADD-ON COMPONENTS. THE DISTRIBUTOR IS A NEW ORIGINAL AUTOLITE. THE CARBURETOR, WHICH NEEDS TO BE REBUILT, IS ORIGINAL WITH THE TAG. THE TRANSMISSION IS ALSO INCLUDED AND WAS SUPPOSSED TO HAVE BEEN REBUILT. NO GUARANTEES ON THE ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION AS WE DID NOT PERFORM THE REBUILDS. THE RADIATOR WAS NOT WITH THE VEHICLE BUT IT APPEARS THE VEHICLE IS MOSTLY COMPLETE. THE ENGINE IS BOLTED TO THE MOUNTS JUST FOR TRANSPOT PURPOSES. THE TRANSMISSION AND DRIVESHAFT ARE NOT INSTALLED BUT ARE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE COMES WITH MOST OF THE ORIGINAL PARTS, SOME IN BOXES AND SOME NEEDING REPLACEMENT OR REFURBISHMENT. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE ORIGINAL VALVE COVERS CHROMED AS WELL AS THE TOP LATCH PLATES, SHOCK MOUNTS, BUMPER GUARDS AND THE REAR CONVERTIBLE TOP MOLDINGS. NO GUARANTEE THAT EVERY PART IS HERE, BUT THERE ARE BOXES OF PARTS. INCLUDED IS A NEW COMPLETE EXHAUST AND COMPLETE FUEL AND BRAKE LINES...ALL NEW. THE ORIGINAL SPARE TIRE IS STILL IN THE CAR AS WELL. TEH ORIGINAL BUMPERS GO WITH THE CAR AND APPEAR TO BE UNDAMAGED AND NICE CANDIDATES FOR A STRIP AND RECHROME. NOTHING FITS LIKE THE ORIGINAL PARTS.THE CLEAR INDIANA TITLE IS IN HAND. WE HAVE THE ORIGINAL KEYS. THE VIN NUMBER MATCHES THE DOOR TAG, BUCK TAG AND FENDER APRON STAMPINGS. THE TRANSMISSION AND DRIVESHAFT ARE NOT IN THE CAR BUT WITH THE CAR. THE FUEL TANK IS NEW OR AT LEAST REFURBISHED AS IT IS VERY NICE. THE TOP ASSEMBLY IS COMPLETE. ALL WIRING FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BACK LOOKS TO BE ORIGINAL AND IN TACT. THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER ORIGINAL PARTS WITH THE VEHICLE NOT LISTED INCLUDING THE GRILLE AND CORRAL, STONE DEFLECTOR AND FRONT SPLASH SHIELD, SET OF ORIGINAL STANDARD SPINNER WHEEL COVERS, TRANSMISSION, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, GLASS AND TRIM PIECES, NEW EXHAUST AND NEW BRAKE/FUEL LINES. THERE ARE SEVERAL PIECES OF MISCELLANEOUS INTERIOR TRIM. IT ALSO HAS A SET OF ORIGINAL FLOOR MATS. THERE IS A BOX OF NEW FASTENERS THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER PURCHASED.
