Vehicle Detail
Thank you for looking at the auction on my 1991 BMW 318i Convertible. Now, let's see if I can entice you to bid! My name is Bill, and I am the sales manager of Autohaus of Naples, an independent highline vehicle dealership in beautiful Naples, Florida. About a year ago, this BMW E30 convertible came in on trade on a 2009 Porsche 911, and I was immediately taken with it. The gentleman who traded it said it had belonged to a doctor in Princeton, NJ, for many years, and had undergone a recent restoration (on what was already a very nice car). The exterior of the vehicle was dissembled, stripped to bare metal, and repainted to factory quality, with new exterior trim, new weather-strip, and a new German soft top installed. The interior, already in excellent age-relative condition, was kept as it was. Unfortunately, the doctor passed away, and this gentleman bought the car from the estate. He continued the restoration to the motor, where it was given a complete top-half overhaul at the local BMW dealership, a rear main seal job, new exhaust, full brake job, and more. He had enjoyed it for a couple of years, but wanted more power, and decided to go with a 911. I couldn't resist. This was the finest E30 I'd seen in more than a decade, so I made a deal with my boss and bought the car. The first thing I did was send the wheels out to a refinisher, where they were trued, sandblasted, painted to factory specs, and fitted with new Kumho Ecsta radials (I wanted Michelins, but these were the only 14" tires I could find!). I had our mechanic go through the car, but he could find nothing to improve upon. A friend of mine at a local stereo shop added a (hidden) iPhone jack in the glove box, and keyless entry with remote (always being careful not to modify anything original). Also, in order to replace an intermittent tachometer/economy gauge, I installed a replacement instrument cluster (this is why the mileage reads 45046). These E30s, in my opinion, are automotive perfection. The build quality is legendary, and the 318i in particular is the most rewarding to own. It has an easy-to-use manual top (nothing to break there), a buttery smooth five-speed manual (all BMWs should be manual), incredible steering, full independent suspension, and is very easy and inexpensive to maintain. The quad round lamps up front and kidney grill is definitively BMW, and I have gotten more compliments driving this car than any other machine I've owned (a lot of cars). If ever there is an obvious aspiring collectible, soon to be a future classic, this is it. The DOHC 4-cylinder engine is bulletproof, inexpensive to maintain, and delivers very good gas mileage. Inside, there are power windows, power mirrors, sport seats with heating, AM/FM stereo (original) with in-trunk CD changer, trip computer, and full gauges. The engineers gave you no more than you needed, and no less - to me, it's just about the perfect car, and most E30 fans would agree. This car comes with 2 keys and remotes, all the original books, including the demonstration cassette, many service records, an original accessory windscreen, umbrella, and medical kit, and more. It runs and drives extremely well (see the video!), and looks incredible. There is no flaw that merits mentioning on the paint - no dings, no rock chips, no scrapes, scoffs, or other issues. This car is show or collectible ready, and reliable enough to be a daily driver. The AC is cold, the heat works well, and there are no mechanical or electrical issues. You are simply not going to find a nicer E30 convertible out there, and 1991 is a great year for this car - the improved, body-color bumper treatments, modern drivetrain, and twin airbags. Do not miss this car - it is going to age extremely well, and become increasingly collectible and valuable with each passing year - a very sound investment. Please call me with any questions at (239) 273-1150. I'm not very happy about selling this car, but unforeseen circumstances require it. This is your chance to acquire one of the nicest E30s out there!
