Vehicle Detail

I purchased this car in December 2010 from believed to be the 2nd owner (he owed the car since 1970), out of a car collection of roughly 50 cars. The previous owner told me that the car had rarely seen the sun in the last 30 years and this is a great example of a highly original, early TR-6. The VIN number shows this is the 2,269th carburated TR-6 built for export, out of a total 9 year production run of 91,850 cars. The heritage certificate lists the car being built in December 1968 and exported to the U.S. in February 1969, delivered to Los Angeles, CA. The previous owner indicated he bought the car in LA upon returning from Vietnam. The '69 model year included some features that were only offered in that year, including body color windshield frame, fold down headrests to allow the tonneau cover to lay flat, and also a high compression engine with less emissions equipment. When I bought the car, I thought it was all original paint, but on closer inspection I noticed that a couple of panels had been resprayed to not a precise match. As a result, I had the entire car repainted in early 2011, to the original factory code of Conifer Green (Triumph Racing Green). Since the car is so original and unmolested, I've been trying to preserve the originality while also making necessary improvements. Here's a list of what's been done to the car in addition to the paint work: All new weatherstripping, door seals, window seals, and windshield rubber. Re-chromed the back bumper and bumper bar. New tires and new wire wheels. New Robbins soft top and tonneau cover (the top-boot is original). New carpets (most of the rest of the interior is original, original dash, seats, and door panels). New front shocks, new alternator, rebuilt and tuned carburetors, and adjusted the valves. Recently replaced the differential with a donor unit out of a low mileage late TR-6. All gauges, lights, and electrics work. The car runs and drives lovely, purring quietly at stop lights, while making nice exhaust noises when driving down the road. I've mainly used the car as summer driver and taking it to local shows, where it has won many awards including: 1st place 2011 Colorado Conclave presented by the Rocky Mountain Triumph Club, 1st Place Early TR-6 2012 Rocky Mountain Triumph Club Spring Car Show, First in Class 2012 Colorado English Motoring Conclave (competing against 20 other TR-6's). This is a very early TR-6, in the highly desired original color scheme of conifer green with black trim, set on wire wheels providing a classic British car look and a stand out amongst other TR-6's, which are usually set on mag wheels. Everyone notices this car when it drives down the road!
