Vehicle Detail
uncle427 Store 1966 Corvette Coupe-Custom- Original 427 car Offered is one 1966 Corvette Custom Coupe. Appears to have been an original 427 car based on tag on back of gauges. This car was purchased by one of my customers in the spring off ebay, purchased from a seller in Florida, brought up here to Connecticut to my shop for Restoration, he has decided not to persue this project as his has experienced some personal issues. So he has asked me to resell the car for him. Its Vin # 194376S1139XX, Trim tag reads: F15 build date, 415AA trim, 976AA Paint. The gauge cluster back tag is LD, thats 66 390 hp, so it appears to have been built as a 390 hp, nassau blue, with blue vinyl interior on Jan 15th. I will quote the ad from the previous auction: This car was customized and tubbed sometime in the 1980's, it was purchased in North Carolina in 2013 after being found as the typical "Barn Find" It was brought then to Florida. The original fiberglass front end has been converted to full tilt. The rear body mounts are still intact and undisturbed so it can be converted back to original if desired. The engine is a 1973 454 chevy BB,has a victor JR intake and a double pumper Holley carb. Has 1969 style side pipes and exhaust manifolds mounted. The original color is Nassau blue with a blue vinyl interior. The interior was dyed black. It has a chrome roll bar, headlamps are mounted behind the grill, Transmission is a 350 Turbo. The body is in excellent shape and the paint is in very nice driver condition, The car has MSD ignition, no gas tank, shifter not hooked up, wiring needs work, gauges and lights not working at this time, still has original gauges, clock, radio, different seats however. It is a beautiful car and attracts attention even when just parked. OK, that said , here is what I know about the car, and can add. It has very nice lines, the craftmaship involved creating the tilt nose is good, this was seat of the pants engineering, no kit, even used the original inner skirts. Flips up and down well, its balanced well, and fits well. There are no pins to hold it down so I do not know what was going on there, but regular hood pins can easily be added to the firewall upper ledge. The firewall and exposed body areas were covered with polished aluminum and it all fits well. The car has its original glass and is all tinted and in good shape, showing a few light scratches one would expect to see. The exterior chrome, etc is of driver quality. The wheels are in good shape, tires aged but new ones of the exact same size are readily available. It has a lowered stock front end, had some modifications added and removed such as suspension travel stops/limiters, it appears to be a ford 9" straight axle installed, there is working calipers for brakes on the front but no brakes on rear, the required kit for that thru Summit was quoted at around $550.00 Driveshaft installed, there is as last seller stated a 350 turbo transmissiom mounted, its condition is unknown. I do know it leaks and will not operate. I hooked up the shifter supplied in car and it does not go into gear. Neither is it mounted to a mounting pad on crossmember, tail is just resting on it. Unknown as to why. The car does roll and steer as easily as it should around the yard. The carb supplied on motor was NG so I installed a freshly rebuilt Holley 3310-2 with vacuum secondaries and stock jetting and installed a 5 gallon fuel tank in back of car and ran a line to a new fuel pump and fired motor, it runs, sounds OK, thats all I can say as although it has a radiator, and I filled cooling system, there is no water pump or pulleys hooked up so can not run for very long. No smoke or noises abnormal. No oil or water leaks, oil is clean. It is a 1973 vintage 454 motor. There are no fans on radiator. The side pipes were spliced under the section running under frame rails, unknown why, it was not necessary. They are as you can imagine pretty loud and attract attention. As the previous seller said, the car really does look great, looks like it going fast sitting still. so when its running everybody looks! The accelorator pedal/linkage is not hooked up, although the brakes are. The steering column was pretty worn so I completely rebuilt it, also put on a new rag joint coupler. It is an older, well used MSD system, but it does the job, same can be said for the plug wires. The gauges, radio, clock, do not work and there is nothing hooked up to any of them, so condition of all is unknown. The ignition switch was wired up so that it does operate the engine, the wiring is actually in very poor condition throught tha car and really nothing is hooked up. The oil pressure gauge was hooked up and showed about 45 lbs while operating, although I unhooked it while removing steering column and did not hook back up, its plugged at line outlet on block. PLEASE NOTE: The scoop on top of the carb is NOT included in the sale. It is in place only for photo effect and does not fit the Holley carb anyway. The seats are not bolted down, console is sitting loose. There is no heater or defroster system, or glove box liner. The windows crank up and down. All the window trim is in place and fits well. As does front and rear windshield. The interior components I would describe as worn. There is no headliner in place. I see no rust on frame but its obviously heavilly modified to accomodate the straght axle. I do not think the body was ever removed from frame previously. There is a large molded opening in the hood for carbs/blower clearance. Thats all I know, its for sure not for the mechanically challenged, comes with a clear North Carolina Title. This would make one hell of a cruiser! It looks like its already staged and ready to fly! Please ask for any details about the car you like, I do have additional pics, just ask for something specific, not just "send more pics" I expect a minimum $500.00 non-refundable deposit within 24 hrs of winning bid, full payment within 7 days. This car is being auctioned "AS IS - WHERE IS" Please contact me for further details. To be clear, there is no gaurantee's or warranty on anything, I have described the car as best as I can based on what I see and know personally, I would enchourage you to make your own inspection or send a representative to do so for you. I will make the car available to anyone to inspect at any reasonable time, including after business hours. The car is located in Shelton , Conn. 06484, about an hour North of NYC. The winning bidder is responsible for all transportation costs, if its a long distance sale I have no problem storing car safely for a reasonable agreed upon time period.
