1973 Datsun 1200 "Sunny"- 1 Owner Original Drivetrain, Blue/Yellow Plate, Grandpa Car I am pleased to offer this 1973 Datsun 1200. Original 1200cu. in. 4spd. Manual Trans. A rather uncommon vehicle, this 1200 has a long history in the San Francisco Bay Area and has no major issues other than having being rehabilitated from a 20 year slumber. This Datsun was purchased from the original owner, and due to a shift in priorities, it is now available to the market (I've been using it as a driver but recently found another interesting toy). As a life-long West Coast car from a dry climate, it is original and straight, without accidents. All sheet metal is original and straight, having good panel fit/gaps throughout. Sporting it's original orange paint, it appears it sat under a tree and had some berries fall on it, lightly damaging the paint, which is where I found it. This car is exceptionally original and damage free showing only minimal wear, and minor dents. The car runs and drives well. The interior has not been abused and the seats were recovered years ago. The engine bay is clean. The car has been lightly driven since I've owned it and all systems are working properly. It is sold with a clear California title and currently registered. Offered at a very fair reserve. Mechanicals: This car has good mechanicals since all major components are in correct working order. The original engine starts easily, runs quietly and smoothly. It does not smoke and has good compression. The original 4spd. gearbox is a bit noisy but works properly and shifts smoothly. The car is smooth at speed. The car responds quickly and accurately to all driver inputs. The brake system is in good order and the car stops well.  Body, Paint, and Chrome: The original paint is in decent shape and showing wear; has light chips and scratches here and there, and a few areas where the paint has been worn away from sitting under a tree for many years. It is extremely original. This Datsun has never had any serious panel damage or chassis damage, nor major rust. Since the car has not had any adverse history and has such good body panels, the panel fit is excellent. The drivers floor have a few small holes which have been treated but overall it's pretty rust free. All lenses are present and in good vintage condition. The windshield and glass are original and in pretty good shape. It will need new weatherstripping and window seals. Interior: The entire interior is original and correct. All gauges are functional and working correctly. The bucket seats show some age commiserate with use but they are not ripped. It is complete and has not been abused. Wheels and Tires: The original matched set of steel wheels are clean and straight. All hubcaps are original and in good shape- one is incorrect. The car exhibits no shimmy or shake at speed. The tires are old and hold air but should be replaced pretty soon. Summaration: This Datsun Sunny is a great little driver and pretty rare these days. It is extremely original and an honest car showing only wear from years of sitting under a tree in the East Bay. It has only cosmetic issues and is a survivor. It runs well and is very smooth in all aspects.
