Up for auction is this new car trade, one owner, 1992 Honda Civic VX Hatchback. For those of you who know about these cars, you know exactly what they are with their 1.5 liter Economy V-tec engine, and their higher gear ratio transmissions which put Honda ahead of the rest back in the early 90's when MPG research was underway. REVIEW: The Honda Civic VX gained improved fuel efficiency through a 92 hp 1.5 L (d15z1) VTEC-E engine yielding 44/51 mpg (city/hwy. In Canada, it was rated by Transport Canada fuel consumption estimate: 4.7L/100 km city and 4.3L/100 km hwy. Other added features were an 8K tachometer with redline at 6K RPM, lightweight 13-inch (330 mm) aluminum alloy wheels, as well as additional front & rear under-body trim additions to improve aerodynamic flow. The VX was also equipped with an aluminum alternator bracket, an aluminum front driver side engine mount, and a lightweight crank pulley. In addition, the instrument cluster featured a shift indicator light that would notify the driver when to shift upwards in order to achieve optimum mileage. To this day, the VX models are lauded as one of the only gasoline-powered cars that rival the fuel economy of today's hybrids and diesels. In the March 2010 issue of Car & Driver for example, it mentions its long-term test car, a 2009 VW TDI Jetta with 6-speed dual-clutch auto transmission, got worse fuel mileage (38 mpg) than their 1992 Honda Civic VX test car (which got 41 mpg) and 2000 Honda Insight hybrid (48 mpg). This cars interior is in excellent condition, except the wear mark on the bottom of the drivers seat. The only interior item missing is the back hatch to[ cover which hides what is inside (they often times break because they were made very cheap). All of the original owners manuals are included. The car still has the factory radio installed which works quite well. The factory 13" alloy wheels are still on the car and in great shape. The tires are almost new. The paint is still glossy with minor fading at the back of the hatch area. There are a few dings here and there on the car, but nothing major and all simply due to the age of the car with parking lots and so forth. The mileage is only 134k actual miles which is nearly unheard of on these cars. I have witnessed these cars with as many as 312k miles and still going. This car has just been tuned up, the coil replaced for optimum spark and fuel efficiency and just passed Virginia State Safety Inspection (an annual inspection here in Virginia on cars). I am including in this sale a 90 day powertrain warranty which covers the engine, transmission, and drive axles for 90 days or 4,500 miles. This is a National Warranty company that can be used in any state. There is a small deductible for repairs, but I SERIOUSLY doubt you will ever need it.
