Vehicle Detail
For Sale: 1966 Land Rover Series IIA 88 - VIN and body style (headlights/grille, etc.) are '66, but its titled (incorrectly) as '69. Bought in May 2012 for running around the Beaches, and it has performed well in that role. Not a restoration or a show car. This is a reliable, fun vehicle that gets lots of waves and thumbs up. Has cream colored hard top and door tops with glass in good condition, as well as the canvas top which I’ve run the entire time I've had it. Leaks oil from the usual places (engine pan/hub seals) and has soft 4 wheel drum brakes. Obviously this isn't a new vehicle but, new parts by me: New Bestop Highback seats up front New Bestop fold and flip bench in the back New 'Tuffy' Locking center consol. New Spin On Oil Filter Adapter (original canister filter included) New High Torque Starter (original starter motor included) New Horse Stall Mat (3/4" rubber) Floor Mats New Galvanized Soft Top Hoops and Hardware New License Plate light New Hub Seals - Real Axle New Hub Caps - Galvanized - Rear Axle New Rubber boots for shift lever/etc. New in Box Fuel Pump (bought but never needed) This Rover has been (by previous owner) converted to (-) Negative Ground Electrical and Alternator installed This Rover has a solid, newer (by previous owner) galvanized frame that should last 50 years, even at the beach. Paint and body are far from perfect, but is newer (by previous owner). This Rover is almost 50 years old, so yes there are some dings in the panels and there is one area of the front right wing (above the bumper) with a fiberglass patch that isn't perfect. The canvas top was included from the previous owner and it has some stains/repairs. Its character matches the vehicle and looks great. Ignition Key does not work door locks (If you want the doors to lock you'll have to replace the cylinders)... but who needs door locks when you run a soft top Turn signals, brake lights, high beams all work. Fuel Gauge only works intermittently. I solve this by filling up for every trip to the beach. At 20+mpg, I haven't run out of gas yet. 3 point Seat Belts (x 4) included but not installed. Green Bible and Haynes Repair and Haynes Restoration Books Included. She's not a show queen. Marks her territory (leaks a little oil) as expected for a vehicle 45+ years old. Tougher to start on cold mornings, choke removed by previous owner, haven't gotten around to installing a new choke because it hasn't been a big problem for what I use her for. Little shot of starter fluid in the carb works every time. Brakes could use some attention. They’re soft on first pump. Good after that. Probably need a good bleeding, maybe a rebuild or repipe, and there's disc conversions available if you want it to stop like a modern vehicle. Winshield wiper motors probably need rebuilt. They work... but are weak and slow... Never bothered me as I only ever drove her in the sun. Sold as is, where is, no warranty. $1000 non-refundable deposit due at auction end. Balance and pick up or shipping within 30 days of auction end. Locals are free to come by to check her out, contact me through the page to set it up. I'll try to answer any and all questions, but I'm no mechanic. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
