Vehicle Detail
This vehicle is now re-listed with a reserve lower than the highest bid. I SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE ROOM FOR HER ANYMORE AND SHE SHOULD BE GARAGED! I bought this Benz sedan on EBay in April of 2003. The previous owner was a California pilot. She was shipped here by Dependable Auto Shippers and has been my daily driver since her arrival in Dallas that same month. She runs well, and the A/C blows quite cold. The engine, transmission, brakes, steering, A/C, power windows, and lights all function properly, and I aware of no impending issues or problems, and am experiencing none at this time. The vehicle has been maintained [more like babied] regularly at one shop in Dallas (among the most reputable [and expensive] in town) since I purchased it. Her mileage is 355,000 (estimated -- odometer quit turning several months ago). The engine was replaced in March of 2008, starting with a rebuilt block (again, same shop) at a cost of $9,287.73. In March or April of this year the left and right rear front trailing arm bushings (worn) were replaced as was the upper differential mount (worn) at a cost of over $800.00. The battery was replaced one year ago. The spare is excellent, and all of the pieces (jack, etc.) are in the trunk. The tires you see were installed new in August of 2012. They have had and show rather little wear (I do not drive much). All four wheels have the original hubcaps painted in matching navy blue and bearing the embossed Mercedes star. The headliner has no tears. The leather seats, front and back, are free of tears as well. The interior has lovely wood trim on the dash (top and face), and on the inside perimeters of the windows. All of it is in quite nice shape except for on the driver's side (left) end of the piece that rests on top of the dash along the edge of the windshield -- where the varnish or lacquer is cracking. There is one crack/split on top of the dash, which appears in one of the photos, but other than that the dash is undamaged. The Becker radio, which works, is there in the dash and (to my knowledge) any speakers that are present are OEM. So is the antenna, which is one of those motorized jobs that pops up when the radio is turned on (I almost never use the radio). The original owner's manual is in the glove box. People everywhere I go comment how well preserved she is. She has the dents and dings one would expect, but no significant body damage other than a cracked rear left light lens. I always hoped to score and display the one-million kilometer award, but I just have not the space! Almost every time I am out on the highway people honk at me and give me the "thumbs up." One day, leaving a restaurant, a valet -- of course -- returned my Benz to me before pulling around the vehicle of a colleague, who drove a car that cost well over $185,000.00. He complained, "Your damn car gets more play in this town than mine!" Sweetness (the name by which this auto is known) is simply one classy old broad. This vehicle -- particularly in navy blue -- is extremely desirable. In "Enemy of the State," the late Jason Robards drove up in a vintage Benz virtually identical to mine. She is deserving of an exceptional home! I can provide the name and phone number of the shop that has helped me care for her to anyone with serious interest. Of course, a pre-buy inspection by a mechanic of your choosing is encouraged. Buyer arranges and pays for shipping.
