Vehicle Detail

I am offering up for sale my 1967 Mustang Convertible that underwent a complete amateur restoration in 2008. This car is daily driver condition and I only drive this car back and forth to town and have never taken it on a long road trip. Most everything was replaced new on this car during the restoration. I will do my best to describe the car as accurately as possible so if you are the high bidder you will know what you are getting. However, I encourage you to ask questions, and if possible, view the car in person. Body: Car was completely sandblasted removing all rust and old paint. New sheet metal was then installed. All front end sheet metal is new including radiator support, front and rear fender aprons, lower cowl panel, full frame rails and torque boxes. New front and rear floor pans were installed as well. Car has new front fenders, hood, passenger door (driver door is original), and new lower rear quarter panels were installed. Body panel gaps are not perfect but, in my opinion, not bad. Car is painted with a non-original dark blue and silver base coat clear coat. Paint is very shinny and smooth but does have minor imperfections and a few chips here and there. When the MUSTANG letters were being installed on the passenger’s fender, three holes were drilled in the wrong position. This was not repaired at the time and can be seen in the photo below. With the dark paint it is difficult to even see them without looking close. Drive Train: Engine is a correct 289 but not original to the car. Engine was completely rebuilt by a professional and was bored 60 over. Engine runs strong, does not smoke, and has excellent oil pressure. It does seem to be running a little hot but does not smell hot nor does the radiator boil over; may need a new thermostat. Pretty much everything was replaced new on the engine or in the engine bay during restoration. Carburetor is a four barrel and was replaced new. Engine and car have a little over 700 miles on them since restoration. An electronic ignition module was used to replace the original breaker points. Car was originally an automatic but has been converted to a four speed. The top loader four-speed is correct for this car and functions very well. However, it occasionally jumps out of third gear (may just need adjustment). Rear end is original to car. Front suspension has been upgraded to a Heidt’s rack and pinion power steering system. Shock towers were removed to install this system which greatly cleans up the engine bay. One inch lowering coil springs were installed on the front. Rear leaf springs were also replaced. Interior: New seat foam and covers have been installed. Carpet and pad were also replaced during restoration as well as new door panels, kick panels, dash pad, and convertible top. Top is a power top and works very well. An aluminum Flaming River tilt steering column has also been installed. Electrical: New wiring harnesses have been installed front to rear. Dash gauges were upgraded with Auto Meter gauges ($1000). Speedometer is jumpy and may need to have a new cable and gear installed. Aftermarket radio with MP3 jack has been installed without cutting up dash. Other Upgrades: Car has Magnum 500 Wheels with near new tires. Front brakes have been upgraded to WilWood disk brakes. All brake lines and brake components front to rear were replaced during restoration as well as fuel tank and fuel lines. Car was also fitted with a Classic Auto Air conditioning system that vents through the dash. This addition also upgraded the heating system. AC is cool but needs more Freon. Please ask questions as I want you to know exactly what you are bidding on. The only reason I am selling this car is to get college tuition funds for my two kids. $500 deposit due at end of auction. Balance in cash or bank wire transfer.
