Vehicle Detail

1984 BMW 635csi - European Import VIN: WBAEC710708173968 Build Date: 07/84 Metallic Grey (BMW Individual according to build sheet and history has been checked with BMW Archives) see below Tan leather power sport seats Original multi-piece modular wheels 5-speed manual transmission, NOT a close ratio, but a Getrag 265 OD 3.32 Limited Slip differential This ratio is VERY Rare! Rust free E24 M6 rear muffler just installed, European headlights and bumpers are all present We recently replaced the original ECU with a newer model to eliminate the problematic old style ECU. In process newer injectors were installed. This is a very clean and solid e24 chassis. There is some surface rust appearing around the front lower corners of the rear fender arches. Please see the detailed photos below for reference. The center section of the rear bumper was damaged previously in a parking lot incident, but there is no apparent damage to the metal behind the bumper. The original European front air dam is still present and intact, with no major cracks/splits or damage. The windshield is cracked, and will require replacement. The tachometer presently does not work., this maybe due to lack of use as the car was stored for an extended period of time. Possibly batteries on the SI board in the cluster need to be replaced. This car came to us with the Hartge metal plaque on the rear and no numerical ID, and as such we were curious as to the history of the car, and was it an original Hartge car . . . We never followed up with Hartge. Below is a copy of the information we rec'd from BMW Archives: "We couldn't clear up the Hartge story very much, but based on the VIN WBAC710708173968 we do have some facts that may be of interest. And an offer for support. According to the BMW Classic database, the car did have a Sonderlackierung (special order paint) and a Sonderpolsterung (special order upholstery). BMW Classic cannot say what they were, because the lists they have regarding special models don't start until 1986. The car was assembled on November 28, 1983, and was delivered to Maertin GmbH in Freiburg in the Breisgau region on November 30, 1983. My colleague believes that the time between these two dates is too short for the car to receive a Hartge modification, but of course it may have been done afterward. He suggests contacting Hartge directly if it is serious, because he believes that if the car was significantly modified they should still have some documentation for it." Here's what I can add to this.... the car has lowering springs, yellow in color, the interior was originally snow white . . . I swapped in a sport interior from a US Spec 86 635CSi and the power seats are powered up and do function! We used a combination of interior panels to keep the original Anthracite carpet originally installed. Included in the trunk is an aluminum rear license plate bracket to fit a US size plate on the Euro rear properly. This will replace the rusted piece still installed. This would make an excellent candidate for reconditioning and would be a beautiful 635csi when complete. Interested parties are welcome to contact us to arrange an in-person viewing/inspection. Car will be sold with a Bill of Sale and the title from the previous owner. The title is a Salvage title due to an accident in 1991 when the rear bumper was damaged. We have the original copies of the insurance report showing a total repair estimate of $1,337.85 to replace the center bumper piece and the rubber trim. There is NO body damage from this accident only bumper damage. Winning bidder is responsible for a $500 non-refundable deposit within 24 hours of auction end, either by Credit Card or Paypal. Final balance to be paid with bank transfer, cashiers check, or cash in person upon pick-up. All sales final, car is sold as-is, where-is. Seller will assist buyer with shipping arrangements, buyer is responsible for all transportation fee's and expenses. The car is advertised locally, and we reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time. If you wish to discuss the car in detail, please feel free to contact us at our office.
