Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a fairly rare and unique 1957 Oldsmobile Golden Rocket Series Super 88 Fiesta Four Door Hardtop Station Wagon. The prior owner of this car was a good friend of mine who purchased it many years ago in the state of New Hampshire. He planned on doing a full restoration but developed health problems that put the car on hold. It was stored in a tractor trailer box for quite some time until his passing. I purchased the car last year and had the same intentions but we are just too busy to get to it at the moment. So rather than let it sit around I am going to offer the car up for bid. To begin with the car has its original 371 V-8, 4 BBL with dual exhaust. Power Steering, Power Brakes, tinted glass all around and padded dash are about the only options it has. It is actually a radio delete car which I have never seen in a 57 Olds before. The prior owner had the car running but needed valve work. So the heads were sent out and completely refurbished, purchased new push rods, complete gasket set and had the rocker arms redone. These were not installed when I got the car. So for now I have just lightly bolted the heads back on and set the intake in place. All the new parts I have go with it. Looks like the transmission was rebuilt also. The car is pretty much original. Still wearing its original gold paint other than the primer thats on the sides. I do know that he had new rockers installed. The body on the car is as straight as an arrow. All the doors, fenders, quarters are nice original sheet metal. Even the rear gates are in nice shape. Frame is good and solid, floor pans, braces, etc are in above average condition. Looks like factory undercoating under the car. I did see a small rust spot on the front drivers side floor board under the carpet and some rust through on the rear pan just above the gas tank. Also the spare tire well has the two factory drain holes but also a small rust hole beside them. Over all pretty solid car. Wouldnt take much to whip it into shape. The dual exhaust system is complete and just surface rusted from sitting. Tags are still on the pipes. The interior is all original, not ripped up but does have soiling. Maybe a good professional cleaning would do it some good. Carpets are aged so those will need to be replaced. The original cardboard panel type headliner is drooping in a few places but is not torn or split. Could possibly be put back in place as the chrome strips are still intact. All the moldings and stainless are in real good shape. There are a few peices missing off the car but we have them. I also have a set of regular 57 Olds hubcaps, the other exhaust manifold and trim pecies. Bumpers are pitted and peeling but are good solid cores to rechrome. No rot holes or soft spots. Yes the car deserves a complete restoration but how many 1950's 4 door hardtop GM wagons are out there? You could do this car original, restomod or get it running, get some brakes on it and drive it like it is. They made just a little over 8,000 of these Feista Wagons. I like unique and different. Maine does not require titles on vintage vehicles. If you need a title in your state we will register the car (which is same as a title) along with our dealer transfer paperwork and you will have no problem. If you need anymore info or pics feel free to call or email at 1-207-324-5568 Days or 1-207-432-2862 Eves and Sundays. On Aug-22-14 at 10:17:33 PDT, seller added the following information: In gathering up the parts that go to the car, I remembered that I had saved a pair of front fenders from another 1957 Olds I owned many years ago. These fenders are complete with inner fenders, headlight buckets and moldings. One fender is nice, the other fender has a small dent on the very front tip and a very small repairable rust hole on the lower bottom. this car doesn't need them but I am including them with the sale of the car as a bonus. Also a number of Ebayers have asked about shipping arrangements. If you need more time to get a better quote for shipping. I can store the car off to the side as long as it is paid for in advance. Just long as it does not stay here by the start of winter.
