Vehicle Detail

Here is the story on my car. The car was purchased new by my Aunt and Uncle in June of 1989 in Fremont California. In 1992 they moved to Oregon where they maintained the car until my aunt’s death in 2006. 2007, I purchased the car from my uncle and drove it to my home in Santa Cruz California. 2009, the car was featured in the October 2009 edition of BIMMER Magazine. I am 48 years old and have owned this car longer than any other car in my life. I truly love this car and want to see it go to someone that will appreciate it and continue to take care of it. I really do want that. The car was my favorite Aunt’s car and she loved it. And so do I. This car is in above great condition. The aluminum trim is in excellent, shiny condition and the paint still shines, as the car has been garaged kept since new. On the outside, I have replaced the bulbs in the lights the stock tires and wheels, added the stripes on the hood and added the grill emblem, but the rest is stock. I have receipts for EVERYTHING I have ever done on this car as well as an Excel spreadsheet listing out everything I have done. I did replace the front air dam as it wasn’t on the car when I got it. My Uncle said my Aunt pulled up too close to too many curbs and he didn’t want to keep replacing it. So when I bought it, I replaced it with the stock 325i rubber lip. The interior looks perfect for a 26 year old car. I have kept a towel over the rear seat so the sun wouldn’t crack the leather. Very few people have sat back there and it shows. I do pop out the rear windows now and then. There are no tears or cracks in the leather or the dash. The dash has had a custom fit cover over it since the 2nd week I owned the car. The headliner does not sag and all electronics work as they should, trip computer and warning computer as well. I did replace the stereo with a removalable faceplate CD player with iPod hook up in the glove box. The original mats were replaced with coco mats and a year ago I had the driver’s side bolsters reupholstered with identical BMW Cardinal Red Leather. They look great and original. I have more leather for future repairs. The A/C blows somewhat cold air, but I am sure it can use a recharge. I live on the coast and never used it. I have ALL receipts on this car showing that I have spent over $15,000 to own and maintain this car. I never said no to any mechanics recommendation of repairs. I faithfully maintained this car since I would be driving it often. In the past year, I replaced the radiator, timing belt and had a major tune up. I keep all of the records on my car in an Excel spreadsheet. Should you want to know what was done on the car, simply ask me for my spreadsheet. Everything on the car works as it should with ONE exception. The central locking doesn’t work. All of the locks work. You can’t put the key in the driver’s door lock and open the trunk or other door. It sounds like it wants to, but it doesn’t. That is literally the only thing on the car that doesn’t work. I have tried a couple of times over the past year to sell this car, but I believe my reserve was not realistic with where the market is on these cars. I have now lowered my reserve price in hopes that it now sells. If it does not, I am going to take it as a sign that I was meant to keep this car and so I will. Next week is the Legends of The Autoban in Monterey, California. It would be a great place to go after picking up the car in Santa Cruz….. My reason for selling the car is that I lost my spouse earlier this year and he was the tinkerer on the car. I am not. I have a new 2015 Subaru Outback on order and have no need for owning two cars. That’s the honest truth. If you have any questions for me, please do not hesitate to contact me.
