Not a barn find but a backyard find. NO RESERVE. This 1978 Triumph Spitfire was sitting in the backyard of a house near a Chicago Airport. It had be covered for years. It turned out to be a restoration that was completed ½ way but never finished. I purchased it and completed it the best I could not knowing too much about these cars and learned along the way. It has a new motor in it with 35,000 miles and new intake and 2 bbl. Carb. With new air cleaner and filter. The interior was missing a few things and I replaced them. Carpeting and seats in good shape. New gas gauge, radio, fuel pickup and sending unit. New tires, battery and some misc. items such as door handles, mirror and some Knobs. This car is solid and drives well. It has a five speed transmission, 1500 cc. engine and new clutch. Underside is solid. The front fenders show some rust but the rest of the car is clean! I also have all 4 center caps for the wheels if anybody wants to bring it back to the original wheel look! The odometer shows 76,000 miles and is correct but the cable just broke on me and will need a new one connected. It also can use a tune up by someone who knows a little more on these cars but runs out well. Convertible top is not bad and looks decent. It has a rip in the lower passenger side under the window but is not bad. Hard top in excellent condition and goes on in a few minutes if needed. I have the original jack and spare tire cover and the trunk is in great shape. The car was undercoated probably back when it was new and has actually helped in a lot of areas to prevent any rust. I also have several large containers that will go with the car and are filled with many extra parts such as a spare motor, transmission, distributor, brackets, carb and intake, and many nuts and bolts. These were collected by the previous owner as spare parts and gave them to me with the car. I will do the same for the next owner.This is definitely priced to sell!! This is a NO RESERVE listing.
