Vehicle Detail
If you appreciate an original non customized Corvette, then this one is for you. The car has the original L48 engine. While not a high horse powered engine, you will find that the car is sufficiently powered with responsive acceleration and braking. I have owned this car for 4 years and have only driven it 2,000 miles. The tires are 255/60/15 Goodyear Eagle's. These tires have been long discontinued by Goodyear. These tires are 14 years old and still appear new. Everything works on this car including the original AC. All of the gauges work.. yes.. event the clock and the original Wonderbar radio. The car is in its' beautiful original color scheme of Elkhart Green paint (946) and Saddle Leather interior (421). The paint I would rate as an "8" on a scale of 1-10. It shows a very few minor nicks but looks stunning. You will also note that the car has it's original "rivet bumps" on the front nose. This is very common on Corvettes from 1968 - 1972. These are often repaired, however, some collectors prefer to leave them "as is" because this indicates that the car has suffered no significant front end damage and repair. Again, very original and beautiful. The leather seat show a little wear primarily on the drivers side, but there is no cuts, tears, or holes in the leather. The carpet, mats, dash pad, and door panels appear to be nearly new. The convertible top is tan and nicely matches the interior. Rarely used, the top is in great condition with no rips. The plastic back window is clear with no signs of yellowing. The exterior chrome is also is in very good to excellent condition. The headlights and wiper door open and retract perfectly as designed. The frame is clean, nicely painted black, with no signs of any rust. The car has a clear Georgia title, the original owners manual, and the original ignition key. This car is "turn key". I would not hesitate in driving this car on an extended road trip. I will provide complementary pick up from the Atlanta airport if needed by the buyer. Please see more detail regarding the options and build documentation below: VIN - 1Z67K2S505235. The third digit "6" verifies that the car is an original convertible. The fifth digit "K" verifies that this is an original 200HP car. The 505235 places the car's build date in October 1971. Engine VIN Stamping. "505235" The last 6 digits of the car's VIN are also stamped on the engine block meaning that the engine was built for this car. Body Build Date: C19. C corresponds to October and the 19 is the nineteenth day of the month meaning this car was built on 10/19/1971 Engine Code: V1005. "V" indicates the engine was built in the Flint Michigan plant. The 10 is the tenth month of the year and the"05" is the fifth day of the month. This means the engine was built on October 5th and naturally would precede the build date of the car. Suffix Code: CKX. This means the motor was intended for an application with an automatic transmission. Which it has. Engine Block Casting Date: J11. J is October. The first "1" is the first day of the month and the second "1" indicates the year of 1971. This is correct and would naturally pre-date the build of the car. Distributor: 1112050. This is the original tachometer cable driven distributor with correct codes used during production of the 1972 models. It is dated 1 J 10. The J is September and the 10 is the day meaning the distributor was produced on September 10th, pre-dating the production of the car Intake Manifold Casting Number: 6263751, This is the correct codes for a 1972 corvette. The dates are J11. J is October. The first "1" is the first day of the month and the second "1" indicates the year of 1971. This is correct and would naturally pre-date the build of the car. Right and Left Exhaust Manifold casting number 3932461. This is correct for a 1972 Corvette. Rochester Carburetor. Code 7042202. This is the correct stamping for 350ci with 200hp engine. The third digit means the carb was built in the 1970's. The fourth digit "2" means it was built for a 1972 model. The fifth digit "2" means that it is a 4 barrel carb. The sixth digit "0" means it was built for a Chevrolet, and the final digit "2" means it was intended for a vehicle with an automatic transmission as it has. Transmission code 72 K 284. The "72" is the model year. The "K" is an engine indication code for 350ci/200hp. "284" indicates this transmission was built on the 284th day of 1971. This would be the second week in October 1971 which pre-dates the production of the car. Windshield, driver's side window, and passengers side glass: Date codes are "AN". "A" is September and "N" is 1971. All of the glass is original and made in September 1971 pre-dating the production of the car. Original glass is also a great indication that the car has suffered no significant collision and repair. Overall this Corvette is in splendid driver condition. The car is meticulously maintained. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing and as you can see this car is very original and correct. The value of these cars has gone up dramatically over the past few years. 1972 marked the end of the chrome bumper era. You could buy this car, enjoy it for years, and sell it for a profit. You cant say that for many vehicles today.
