Vehicle Detail
For sale is our classic 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. We purchased this vehicle a couple of years ago when we were living in Virginia Beach, VA as a "beach cruiser" for my wife and kids to take to the beach. It had a brand new leather interior when we purchased it and the car did everything we needed. It started great, ran well, had comfortable seating for 5, held surf boards on the roof rack, and still had plenty of room for gear in the back. We've owned multiple classic cars over the years and the Wagoneer is what I'd call a daily driver. She looks good from 15 feet a away, but it's not so fancy that you're afraid to drive it and leave it in the parking lot unattended. We wanted something nice and reliable that was also fun to drive. The car gets a ton of attention everywhere we go - we even had some foreign tourists ask if they could have their pictures taken with the car in the background ! Since my wife and kids were in the car, I always had it professionally maintained. We have approximately $11K invested in the car. Investments & repairs over the past two years include:New master cylinder and brake booster ($500, June 2014)Automatic transmission clutch replace & repair ($1600, Feb of 2014)Main bearing and other gaskets removed and replaced to fix various oil leaks ($1700, June 2012)Kenwood stereo (iPhone compatible) with 4 new speakers ($300, June 2012)New front and rear brakes, other repairs ($1,100, May 2012)New fuel level sensor ($600, sensor is inside of fuel tank, June 2012) These cars were low-production, and have a very strong following. Some consider these vehicles to be the original Luxury SUV. Ahead of their times in some ways, they were a nicely sized 4WD SUV with leather seats, power windows & locks, power 6 way adjustable seats, etc. If you look around on eBay or other sites you'll find that nicely-restored cars go for $20-$30K plus. With some of the very high-end restorations fetching $50-$100K. This Wagoneer is nicely priced, but I believe in 100% open disclosure. She does have a few known TLC items. Rear gate latch is stuck on one side. While the gate does not open, the window goes up and down fine so we haven't bothered to fix it. The stereo works great, but the reception through the radio antenna is marginal. We listen to iPod and CDs, and the stereo is loud and clear. There is some minor surface rust in a handful of places, but this is NOT a rust bucket. Overall the car is rock solid and looks really good. The power windows all go up and down. The passenger side, front door lock works, but the spring mechanism is worn, so it ends up locking itself every time you close the door. The heat and AC units work, but AC needs a re-charge this year. Finally, the brake lines are original, and should be replaced at some point. We have moved to a new house in the Midwest with a smaller garage, so the "beach cruiser" needs to go. Please contact me with any questions. Since we are tight on space, so I'm not interested in trades. We also have two very nice motorcycles for sale. Good luck, and we hope she goes to a good home.
