With the exception of a respray to the paint we believe this car to be mostly original. The paint respray was most likely done in the 1970s or early 80s. The car has been stored indoors since 1988. We also believe that this car has had only two owners, and the second owner and current seller never transferred the title or registered the car. Carefully brought out of its slumber, we have used or repaired as many original and authentic parts as possible. Most of the attention has been given to the fuel and brake systems. This car can now be driven smoothly and with very few issues. All components of the drivetrain seem to be in good working order. The engine runs smooth and quiet with good oil pressure. The cooling system shows no leaking and the temperature stays right at 180. The clutch works fine and the transmission shifts smoothly up and down the gears. There are no unusual noises from the chassis. We have not replaced the tires as we feel new tire replacement should be a personal choice for the new owner. The interior appears to be completely original, and is in very good condition with the exception of a tear in the passenger seat as pictured. All switches and gauges appear to be in good, working condition. The convertible top is fully functional but shows its age. The exterior paint shines up when polished, but does show its age with some cracking. The chrome also appears original, is clean and straight with some minor deterioration. This car is somewhat rare as a mostly original, unrestored, and very stylish example of Mid-century European auto design and of Mercedes Benz history. Please be aware that there are a few issues with the car that should be addressed eventually. Serious bidders should contact Mark directly by phone at 410-420-1202 for a complete description of the car. Thank you!
