-FOR SALE-1992 BMW 318i E30, 5 speed, Manual Top, Original 111k Miles! All maintenance records included back to 1992 I have for sale a very clean example of an unmolested BMW E30 convertible. This is a 1992 318i with original 111K miles! This car is in rare Lagunagreen Metallic with cloth grey sport seats. The car is a 5 speed manual with a manual convertible top! This is a great running and driving car, which is one of the last of the E30 generation. In 1991 the E30 stopped production in the coupe and sedan versions. They continued making the convertible until 1993. Im not sure of the number of cars they produced in 92/93 but I personally have not seen many late model (plastic bumper) E30s with 5 speed manual and manual top. Most that I run across have been automatic transmission with automatic electric top. I have a folder of all the maintenance records back to 1992 and will included with the purchase of the car. Paint/Body: The color of this car is by far the best part. The lagunagreen metallica is an often sought after color and its in great condition. it is original paint, and continues to shine. The car has always been garaged and out of the sun. There are very minor dings and scratches on the vehicle but nothing you should worry about. I would give it a 8.5/10. This car did not come with fog lamps. Convertible Top: The top is a manual top! The electric motors on these never worked quite right, so having a manual top is a very good thing. The top has been replaced a couple weeks ago by a professional auto top shop in town. But lets face it, this car was meant to be driven with the top down! Interior:As you can see in the pictures the interior has some wear. The seats are cloth, manual, sport seats which is great. The cloth has some rips, and could stand to be reupholstered or just driven as is. The dash is CRACK FREE! Besides the wear on the seats the interior is a 9/10. Electronics: Electronically this car is very very sound. All the window motors work great. No slow windows on this one. All of the lights work, tail lights, driving, high beams, and turn signals, including interior dash. The only problem is the RPM gauge gets stuck at 2500 RPM when the car is on. The engine isn’t turning at 2500 the gauge needle just sticks there. If you google this problem its common in the E30. It could be just the gears which is an easy fix. Other than that, the speedometer and odometer all work. The OBC and radio work as well. HVAC: This car does have AC and works, but it is currently not charged. Its a convertible…why would you use AC with the top down? The heat works great. If you want AC, just charge it and you’re ready to go. Transmission: The transmission shifts great with little to no play in the actual shifter. The clutch feels very good. Does not slip, and the pedal is firm. No problems, nothing more to say. Engine: The engine fires right up. It runs and drives great. the valve cover gasket was replaced less than a week ago. Still has a lot of power from this little 4 cyl M42, and gets great gas mileage. The car only has 111K miles, so you have plenty of life left. Suspension: The suspension is in great shape. In the past week, the front tie rods, control arms, front control arm bushings, ball joints, sway bar end links, and shocks have been replaced. The rear sway bar end links and rear shocks have also been replaced. The car still has a little play in the steering wheel, but nothing that bothered me enough to continue to look into it. It drives great down the road. Brakes: When the suspension was changed out, all 4 rotors and pads have been replaced with brand new parts. When this was done, the calipers were cleaned and painted with high temp silver paint to last for many more years. The brake system has been completely flushed with brand new fluid. The brakes feel very sharp and on point. Conclusion: Thats all I can think of. The car is a great example of german engineering, and a blast to drive. E30s are some of my favorite BMWs ever made. Between quality parts, and solid engineering this little car has given me some of the most enjoyable driving experiences. They really don’t make them like they used to. Don’t miss out on this rare example of a german car you can still afford, and work on for many years to come.
