Vehicle Detail
For Sale 1965 Ford 250 pickup project plus parts This is a 2WD manual transmission four on the floor Ford 250 camper special. The engine is a 352 V8. This pickup has an 8 foot bed with the tool box on the side. The tailgate and rear bumper are gone. The engine runs well. The carb could use some cleaning, because I've let it sit too long. The engine has good power and the exhaust was replaced in 2006 when I bought the pickup. As you can see in the photos the seals in the engine aren't holding well any more probably due to sitting most of the time. It still has the original oil bath air filter. I'm selling it because I have too many projects and not enough money or time to finish them all. The odometer shows 51,768 miles. According to the original owner it wasn't driven too much because he thought it was too much of a handful to drive into town every day. I bought it from his grandson out of Kentucky in 2006 and I've only put a few thousand miles on it in the time I've owned it. Due to the condition of the engine and the power it makes I believe this is the correct mileage for this vehicle. I've done a few things to it since I owned it. I replaced the points with a Pertronix electronic ignition that fits under the distributor cap. It's been converted to a dual reservoir master cylinder with a Wilwood proportioning valve and converted the brake light switch to a newer pedal-activated style. I also converted it to front disc brakes with parts from a mid-70s Ford F-250 and added a front sway bar. It has 17x8 Cragar soft 8 rims on it with tires from 2006. Shocks were replaced in 2006 and rear brakes were also gone through as well as the gear oil in the Dana 60 and the transmission fluid changed out. The body is quite straight for a pickup. The original pickup bed floor was rusty and is gone as is the tail gate. I started setting up to replace it, but the job is not done. There is a bed floor from a late 90s Ford shown in the photos that goes with the vehicle. I have some sheet metal and spare parts that can go with the vehicle. An extra set of doors, floor pans, cab mounts, fender bottom repair panels as well as original and extra trim are among them. The floors and cab mounts on this pickup are rusty and need some work. I haven't disassembled it far enough to determine exactly what they need. The doors on the vehicle can probably be used. I bought the extras because I was thinking of making a super or crew-cab style and I thought they would come in handy. The grill and trim is in great condition on this pickup, and there are some extra trim pieces (same reason as the doors). I had also planned to do a transmission swap to a newer ZF 5 speed overdrive from a 1991 F-250. I have the ZF transmission, pedals, hydraulic line, master and slave cylinders for the hydraulic clutch, plus brake master cylinder and booster to convert to power brakes. I also have the pedals from the 1991. All the parts plus the sheet metal patch panels go with the truck. This transmission could be used behind the 352 with an adapter kit, or it will bolt up to a small block Ford if you wanted to convert to a 302 or a 351. The original transmission works well for what it is, but the newer 5 speed with overdrive is a lot more enjoyable to use, especially on the highway. This ZF is in decent condition. I was planning to use it as is, but 2nd gear has a little crunch on cold mornings until it warms up. For use in a classic on nice days only I don't think it will matter at all. The tabs are up to date on this vehicle.
