Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE 1972 De Tomaso Pantera (Pre-L with desired small chrome bumpers). Beauty and the Beast with Italian sports car design powered by American muscle.Year: 1972Mileage: 43,700Engine: Ford 351 Cleveland (matching numbers)Transmission: 5 speed ZF (matching numbers)Exterior Color: Bright Yellow (original paint)Interior Color: Black (perfect condition)VIN: THPNMR02825 VIN breakdown: T: Company: De TomasoH: Assembly Plant: Modena, ItalyPN: Model Code: PanteraM: Build Year: 1972R: Build Month: Feb02825: Unit Number Lee Iacocca and Alejandro DeTomaso reached an agreement on September 9, 1969 to give Ford Motor Company exclusive rights to import and sell the DeTomaso Pantera in North America. Powered by Ford’s 351 Cleveland engine and a 5 speed ZF transmission, the Pantera was both beautiful and fast. A total 2,131 Panteras were sold through Ford’s Lincoln-Mercury Dealers in 1972. This is one of only 558 Yellow Panteras made in 1972. Elvis owned the same color combination Pantera (1971 yellow and black). This one is identical, minus the bullet holes from Elvis. I am the 3rd owner of this amazing automobile and have owned it for 4 years. It is stored indoors and covered at all times. Battery is kept on a trickle charger when not in use. The car has never seen rain, salt, or snow and has had under 200 miles over that past 4 years. The car is extremely nice to excellent condition as can be seen in the pics. This Pantera has its original 351ci Cleveland engine, coupled to a ZF 5-speed manual transaxle transmission with a limited slip differential. The suspension consists of 4 wheel independent suspension, coil over shocks, 4 wheel power disc brakes, and rack & pinion steering. The car has air conditioning, power windows, AM-FM radio, Campagnola magnesium wheels, and Goodyear tires in very good condition. Includes all factory correct components including the spare, jack, jack tools, tool kit, owner’s manual, seat belts, washer system, original shifter, original steering wheel, and Ford air cleaner. I even have a Pantera key chain. There is no rust on the car anywhere including exterior, doorframes, or subframe. Paint is in exceptional condition for its age and shows dry little to no wear as it shines bright. The chrome has no signs of pitting or scratches. It shines like a mirror. The car was built in Modena Italy in Feb 1972. I purchased it in 2010 from the previous owner of 17 years. He purchased it from the original owner (Ford Engineer). According the the 2nd owner , whom I purchased the car from, the original owner was the Ford Engineer who developed the Pantera Owners Manual. There are handwritten notes in some of the master manuals that suggest this is true. All numbers on the vehicle are matching. The glass and chrome are spotless. Everything works as it did when it was new (minus the air that blows cool, but not cold). Included in the sale are 2 binders of records/photos, the original dealer brochure, large diagrams etc. All repair work seems to have been competed by Collectors Choice, Ltd. and according to the documentation from the previous owner, there are invoices for rebuilding the transmission, refreshing the suspension, new shocks, and installing SPAL high performance fans. Other work on the invoices include normal maintenance such as brakes, rotors, etc. Other than the repairs noted above and documented in the paperwork, the car is a matching numbers completely stock vehicle. Everything works including the power windows and headlights. However, the air does not blow as cold as it should. The paintwork is very nice, with only very minor signs of wear such as where the engine deck corners meet the fenders. Some paint is nicked off the corners, but there is no rust (see photos) and few very minor ihairline cracks in the paint. The chrome and stainless are excellent, as are the wheels and glass. The interior is also very nice. The upholstery and dash are excellent, with no cracks or rips in either. The carpet is very good as are the Pantera floor mats. All instruments and switches work. The door panels are excellent. The engine compartment is extremely clean. The underside is also extremely clean. This is an outstanding opportunity to acquire a very rare original Pantera that has been well cared for and is in excellent shape. Every time I pull off the car cover, I am amazed at what a beautiful car it is. I am heartbroken about selling it, however I can no longer drive it due to illness (and I won’t let anyone else in my family drive it). You will not be disappointed in this beautiful automobile and your neighbors won’t have one of these in their garage! The reserve is very fair for this quality of vehicle and at auction, it would go a lot higher. You are responsible for shipping this vehicle, but I will assist the shipper to ensure that it arrive as it leaves here. Car cover included in sale. Please contact me with any questions. On May-28-14 at 20:05:08 PDT, seller added the following information: Please note updated description below:I uncovered the car from storage today and went through it with a fine tooth comb. There are some corrections to the description that I need to alert potential buyers to in order to fully disclose all details about the vehicle.I thought that the paint was original, but I now believe that it was repainted by the previous owner. There is no visible rust on the car, but I found a few very small bubbles in the paint on the drivers side lower rear fender above the rocker panel (see pics). They are only on the drivers side and I had to take several pictures so that they would show in the photos. This must have happened over the winter from moisture in the cement floor of the garage, as it was not there last summer. There are also some dots in the driver's door jam corner and at the seam under the hood. I've added photos of each of these areas so that there are no surprises. I also added photos of the minor hairline spider cracks in the paint that I previously mentioned. Otherwise, the paint is in exceptional condition and shows little wear as it shines bright. The chrome has no signs of pitting or scratches. The under carriage is very nice with no rust. The tires are in very good condition with no dry rot.Using the "What's My Car Worth" show scale of 1-6, this car is a strong 2 (show quality, but not museum quality). I've included photos of each of the above areas and tried to describe them as accurately as possible. These are all very minor, but I want to fully disclose everything that potential buyers would want to know just as I would expect if I was buying the car.
