Vehicle Detail

1963 Chevrolet Impala convertible. I have owned this car for about 14 years. 409 2x4 4speed CLONE. The engine block is a 348 from a 1960 passenger car. Both carbs are Edlebrock 500cfm and one has electric choke that sit atop an Offenhauser intake. The oil pan is a new 409 pan with the dip stick on the passenger side. Dougs full length headers. Flow master mufflers (intake and exhaust parts came from show cars inc.) The fan shroud is correct 348/409 not a cut down small block one. I installed a clutch fan to keep her cool on hot days. When I first built the car I converted it to a automatic thinking that I would not want to be bothered with shifting. That didn't last long. Once the car was on the road it only took a month for me to take it back to a stick. The transmission is a Muncie M21 close ratio. The shifter is a Hurst competition plus with an original style handle made to bolt into the Hurst body also from (show cars). The clutch is a 11" with a "621" big block bell housing. I had a friend of mine make me the shift boot retainer at his machine shop. It is much nicer that the repro junk they sell. Its made from aluminum and has a nice chrome shine to it. I cut the floor and installed the proper 4 speed hump for the shifter. When you remove the carpet it will look factory. I don't remember what gears are in the rear. It is a factory style rear. The car has power brakes. Up front it has cross drilled and slotted rotors, stainless steel hoses. The back has drum brakes. There is Dot 5 brake fluid in the system so you don't have to worry about the fluid eating the paint and can withstand high heat. The brake kit came from CCP. Also has a factory power steering setup. Wheels are 17" FOOSE. The charging system has been upgraded to a chrome alternator with internal regulator. I just changed the oil and filter this week. The original color was 918 - Azure Aqua Metallic. I painted it a color very close to the original but a few shades darker and a little more metallic It has PPG base and clear on it. I used rust free doors, fenders, hood and trunk lid from out west. As you can see from the photos the floors were replaced and not just the pans. I also smoothed out the firewall seam for a cleaner look. The top is 1 year old and has a glass back window instead of the old plastic style that look bad after a year or two. Also installed a new top seal kit. The CD player is mounted in an old Corvair radio mount that has been painted to match the dash and car. The interior is all done with a kit from impala bobs. I installed oe style rear seat belts so I can put my two sons in the car with their car seats and go for a ride (they are 2 1/2 and 4 years old and they love it). I never liked the look of the gas pedal so when I put the new floors in I didn't use the studs for a gas pedal I just chromed the pedal hanger and left it like that for a much cleaner look. If you wanted a pedal add the two studs and the rubber pedal. I left the old inspection sticker on the car from when it was last inspected in November of 72'. This car is real head turner. Everyone I talk to loves the color and the way it looks and sits overall. I cant sit here and say its a show winner because I never took it to a show. I hate going to sit in field or parking lot all day for a $10 trophy I like to enjoy my car and drive it. I have taken it to plenty of cruise nights just not judged shows. It does need a speedo cable. I didn't have the right one for the 4 speed and "never got around to it" all other gauges work fine. The horn is not working. It is a ground issue it was working then got stuck on so I unplugged the relay. I haven't had time to take the wheel off and see what the issue is. I will try to have it fixed by the time it sells (no guarantee though) Brake lights, headlights, turn signals and wipers all work fine. The heat works well on those cool evenings. The only water the car has seen since it was painted is when it was wet sanded. The Pictures tell the story. The following items have been chromed - Glove box door - Steering Column inside the car - Steering Shaft and rag joint - Heater box under hood - Gas pedal hanger New Items are - Bumpers front and rear , license plate pans front and rear, front grill guard - Grill - All emblems - Side trim - Hood moldings, eyebrow moldings, emblems - Tail light pans, Trim, Tail light Assemblies - dual rear antennas - mirrors - pioneer speakers with molded kick panels - carpet, seat covers, door panels and door sill plates - gas tank and sending unit I WILL ONLY ACCEPT CASH.
