This is a very clean and hard to find 1988 2 door Montero with the SWB that runs and drives great. Although this is not my vehicle I know the owner and because he lives quite a distance from any civilization and is elderly, I am helping him sell the truck at a very, very reasonable price. He is having a multitude of health issues and is just looking for a quick sell to pay for some of his health issues. The truck has been garaged and very well cared for. He purchased from, who he thinks was, the original owner in California back in 2009. He bought it to take trips out in the desert with his wife but shortly after he bought it they both began having health issues and he drove it about 11k miles in the 5 years he has owned it so it has not seen much use. When you look at the truck you can tell it has been well maintained and probably garaged most, if not all, of it's life. The original paint still shines nicely. There is no rust evident anywhere on the body or chassis as would be consistent with a California and Arizona car. There is a shallow dent in the front right fender that is pictured and a light crease on the front edge of the hood but other than that there is just minor paint chips on the body. Tires have plenty of tread on them and are in great shape. All glass is in great shape. Interior is in superb shape for the age of the vehicle. The only tear in the interior is on the driver's edge of the seat and is very common in these because the lever to adjust the seat back rubs right on that spot. The carpet is in amazing shape and has been covered by custom fit floor mats since new. It has not been smoked in and there have been no pets in the car. It runs and drives nicely and the 2.6L 4 cylinder engine purrs. It has ice cold factory AC that really freezes you out even in the hot Arizona climate. The only things that don't work on the car is the rear hatch automatic locking switch (so you have to lock it manually with the key) and the hazard lights. This may be just a fuse but he has not checked into it. It is missing the little plastic knob that you grab to roll the window down on the end of the window crank but I think you can get that at any parts store. Windows all roll up and down fine and all doors lock as they should. Factory sound system still works as it should and still sounds pretty good for being 26 years old. I haven't tried the cassette because I don't have any so I can't say if that is working or not. Automatic transmission shifts perfectly and has the OD function on the shifter that works well if you need extra power. Speaking of power, these little cars are not speedsters. They run just fine at highway speeds but they take their time getting up to speed so if you're looking for something with a lot of power off the line then you wouldn't like this rig. Does not overheat or have any mechanical issues and could easily be driven on a long trip without worry. It does have an occasional "flutter" noise in the catalytic converter so this may need to be replaced at some point but it happens intermittently and does not cause any problems in terms of how the truck runs. This is just a really neat, well kept 80's style rig that is a blast to drive and gets plenty of looks. You just don't see many of these anymore. Title is free and clear.
