Vehicle Detail

A true Bobber constructed of parts from previous builds. These include: Triumph, Pontiac, Dodge, Volvo, H-D. Polaris, Indian, Artic Cat, Kawasaki, Mercury Sno-Twister. This bobber was built for the long haul. The normally ridged mounted engine is now completely suspended in rubber mounts from a Pontiac Fiero, Volvo and a Polaris RXL. Vibration thru out the frame is nearly none. The frame has been stretched 5-1/2' for both rider comfort and easy of fitting a rider to the normally short Triumph frame. The seat has 6" of for and aft adjustment for the ability to fit the bike to the rider physical stature. In addition the seat will accommodate from 3" to 6" springs for individual rider weight. There are 5" springs in I now. The aluminum seat is steel reinforced has memory foam and formed to the shape of the frame. The stretched frame is out fitted with All Souls plunger rear axle velvet ride suspension for a hard tail look but softened ride. These suspensions were quite popular in the seventies and this one was upgraded with PBC linear plane self-lubricating bearings and Viton seals which should be far superiors to the nylon busing that were in from the factory. Plunger rods and axle carrier were rechromed. It's a H-D Narrow glide front end with a twin leading shoe Triumph rim and brake drum. The engine has been renewed and the crank sludge tube removed and cleaned. Out fitted with new standard rod bearing on polished crank shaft journals. New crank support bearing. Cylinders bored .020 and pistons fitted to the cylinders. Valves reground and head resurfaced. Engine cases are stress relieved and satin polished. For improved throttle response a Aluminum clutch basket was installed with new bearings and clutch disc's Barnett pressure plate springs for positive engagement. The engine also has two 34MM Mikuni carbs with velocity stacks for dependable starting and performance. Ignitions as a Boyer electronic which I prefer for reliability and performance. Once the timing is correctly set its set forever unlike contact points. Two ignition coils are mounted in a custom radial Aluminum suspension system to aide in heat disbursement of the coils. Stainless steel oil lines. This engine starts so good a girl can start it. This bike was originally a four speed bike but for improved around town drivability open road performance and long distance runs the bike is now out fitted with new lay shaft bearings thrust washers and the uncommon 5 speed transmission found only in a few Triumphs of this era. Shifting is done thru forward controls and stainless steel rod equipped with helm joints for alignment and smooth operation. Combined with new 20-43 sprockets this bike has excellent acceleration and a very good cruising speed. Fuel tank capacity is about 4 gallons for a decent cruising range. The bike is assembled with stainless steel fasteners and Nylock nuts. There is no signal lights or speedometer on this bike. Seat is Italian Goat hide Braking is done by reliable cable mechanical actuation for the front twin leading shoe drum brake and the foot activated forward controls stainless steel rod and heim joint linkage to the rear drum brake. No messy brake fluid to check or drip on your paint on this one. Tires are road gripping Dunlop and Kendra. The headlight is a single element Bucyrus-Erie 80-D quarry crane the Tail, brake light is a WWII black out light off a halftrack converted to a red lens. Four terminal fuse block protects the electrical system which has a Gel cell battery. Paint on the frame, engine cases, brake drum are flat 69 Ford Boss 302 shaker hood Hot Rod Flat Urethane. Rims are DuPont double jet black Acrylic. The fenders and tank are done in DuPont base coat clear coat. This is not really a old Triumph. This is like a new 68 Triumph with lots of improvements made. This was a costly time consuming bike to build. It was built with the intention to have a reliable Bobber that can be ridden a long distance rather than a hard tail that is only good for local bar hopping. I own a couple of those as well. If you do not like the color that can be changed for additional costs. If you would prefer it to look like a chopper I have coffin tanks, girder and springer front ends and other fenders that can be fitted as well for additional costs. This winter I did tinker with a couple of Piper aircraft pedals to replace the traditional shift and brake levers that can be added to the Triumph if the buyer would like them added for a small additional cost. I build these for myself.. If it sells fine if not I will ride it.
