Transmission: Automatic ‘Dynaflow’ (torque-converter type, with twin-turbines)Features: Power Brakes; Power Steering; Power Windows; Edelbrock 4.brl. carburetor; Dual Glass Packed Mufflers; New driveline and master cylinder. For Sale: A 1961 Buick Invicta, 4dr hardtop. Current TN antique registration and a clean title. The vehicle does run, but rough and not recommended for driving until several issues are addressed. I purchased this vehicle while stationed in Nevada on active duty in 2009 and drove it for a year as a local driver. It was parked for a year while I was on deployment and then moved to Tennessee in early 2013; it has been sitting since and I hate that it is going to waste. This was a great car for what it was and a great first project for me. Despite the sunburnt paint, this was a head turner everywhere I drove it. The vehicle has a lot of potential; however, I do not have the time or place to restore it. I hate to see it deteriorate parked in the Tennessee humidity. This vehicle lived most of its life in the desert with no moisture or salt to speak of and has no major rust damage. The frame is solid and the body is very straight (a couple minor dents (<1” in size) in the paneling). The interior was partially restored about fifteen years ago and does show some signs of wear. Most of the original parts are present. I have a 1960s chassis manual for the vehicle which covers virtually everything. As I understand the ownership, it was bought by an elderly couple who did some restoration (paint, interior work and engine work) within the last 25 years and showed it at “Hot August Nights” in Reno, Nevada for a couple of years. The vehicle then sat for ten years or so before it was bought by a young man in Reno circa 2008/9. I bought it from him in November 2009 and drove it for the next couple years, while doing some work myself between deployments. Known Major Mechanical Issues:Dashboard is not functioning -- The circuitry that handles the displays is not working. A few of the indicator lights are burned out as well. The odometer is stuck at 42,XXX. Power brake vacuum booster needs a rebuild; manual brakes still work. The master cylinder was just rebuilt by me. Voltage regulator shorted out; needs replacement (have replacement alternator in trunk if you would rather just replace the generator) Transmission reverse servo is stripped out; the vehicle has no torque in reverse. Rebuild kit of the transmission is about $300 and widely available. In general, there is lots of work to be done; as should be expected of a car with this age and lack of restoration. Ready to be restored! This vehicle is rough, but far from dead. Would be an excellent project car for someone with the time and resources to do so. I’m pricing this vehicle to move quickly; not trying to turn a profit. Buyer handles all shipping arrangements and cost; no delivery offered. Vehicle will not leave, however, until payment is in hand. Cash in hand, bank check or PayPal only.
