Vehicle Detail
1965 Ford Mustang 65 302 c4 9-inch great car custom paint – attention getter! Here’s a very cool blast from the past! She is a 1965 Ford Mustang that really grabs attention. She runs and drives very well – I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it anywhere. She could probably use a tune-up, but runs very well and is quite quick in the condition she’s in today. She is sporting a 302 small block v8 with Edelbrock 4-barrell carburetor and intake manifold, Accel dual-point distributor, tri-Y headers and dual exhaust with an H-pipe. The engine sounds great and the exhaust note is stealthy. The transmission is a C4 automatic with a B&M ratchet shifter. The drivetrain is completed with a Ford 9-inch rear axle with ladder bars. BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s on the rear and BF Goodrich Advantage T/A’s on the front – all with more than 90% tread life (and no dry rot), and American Racing rims on all four corners. She is by no means a ‘show car’ anymore, but she is quite a looker. She is an original C-code car, not a 6-cylinder conversion. Lights and wipers work, horn does not. She has a AM/FM/CD stereo in the dash that is not connected at the moment. The interior is ok – could use some freshening up, but not embarrassing. The original FoMoCo script Mustang floormats are still there and in great condition. There is almost no rust on the car as you can see from the pictures. The floors are very nice – I can see a little evidence that they have been patched properly in years past with the right materials. Frame rails, trunk floor, etc are very nice and even the bottom of the battery tray (common rust area) is in pretty damn good shape (see pictures). The bottom of the passenger door also has some rust. The shock towers are clean and un-cut. She also has the old ‘purple dot’ tail light lenses. The plaid trunk mat is still there and even has the matching jack pack, spare cover and toolbag. The years-old custom paintwork still shines, but is showing it’s age. There are a few scratches and scrapes here and there – it’s not perfect by any means. But it will show well at your local cruise-in and demand respect because it shows as a driven car that was built well - with a patina that shows it’s been there. There are 2 bottles of matching touch-up paint included. She’s been a garage monster for many years; languishing in the corner – and she really deserves someone to put her back into use for the occasional weekend trip or cruise night event. She might even be quite popular at a local car show event! There are plenty of pictures, so follow the photo-bucket link below and there is a video of the car idling while I walk around it. She has a clear MD title. You know at this price, it won’t last long… Car is also listed for sale locally, so I reserve the right to cancel the auction if the car sells locally before the auction is completed. On Mar-13-14 at 05:47:53 PDT, seller added the following information: ** To answer some questions that were asked, since the questions were asked and included a phone number or email, I won't re-post them for the sake of your privacy - I am posting the discussions below so all can benefit. - The cam dimensions are not known, but I can tell that it is a modest performance cam, not a rough thumper. Runs and idles well and still sounds great. The car is very easy to start - just pump the pedal 2x and bump the key. Runs very well immediately, even better after it warms up in a minute... - Yes, the 2 touch-up paints are as old as the paint on the car - and I opened them both recently. The touch-up paints are still liquid, but very thick, therefore a little thinner will provide you with more useable matching touch-up paint. - Yes, the underside of the car is practically rust-free. Please review all the pictures I took under the car and you will see what I mean - beautiful frame rails, etc. - Yes, the motor oil is still goldish/tan in color and the antifreeze in the radiator is clear green. Yes, the transmission shifts properly and works fine. - The car is perfect for the 'tinkerer' because it is a solid, running and driving car that needs a little attention - can be driven immediately without doing anything at all and little items made better as you see fit. She is not a perfect show car, hence the low price. - The comment about the shock towers; this car's shock towers have not been cut. In the 70's and 80's it seemed to be a common practice for shops to cut a hole in the shock towers to reach the grease fittings for the upper control arms. Collectors hate this. This car's towers have not been cut.
