Vehicle Detail
1949 Nash Ambassador Super Special "Time Capsule" HISTORY Parked since the early 60’s this is a true Time Capsule/Barn Find vehicle. 26000 original miles, I am only the 2nd owner. No significant rust anywhere! Starts up every time, and drives just fine. No smoke. Very quiet after it warms up. 235 ci original straight six motor. 3-speed on the tree with factory overdrive. Original paint (respray in 1956 of right side, receipt included). Headlights, brake lights, turn signals, fog lights, interior lights all work. Heater and blower work. Dealer installed accessories include fog lights, reverse lights, seat covers, extra radio speaker. Original receipts included. I think the 2-door model is quite rare. The rear windows roll down! (1/2 way). Yes, this is the car whose front seats fold down to make a bed with the rear seats. Original carpet, door panels, seat upholstery and headliner are wool and mohair. Original carpet is still in the trunk (it's pretty dirty back there). TITLE AND REGISTRATION ARE CURRENT. WHATS BEEN DONE Brakes rebuilt Gauges repaired (including fuel sending unit) Wheels powdercoated Wide whitewall Goodyear SuperCushion tires ($1000 investment in tires alone) Carb rebuilt Gas tank and lines cleaned Fuel pump rebuilt Water pump rebuilt New reproduction 6v battery Peep mirrors added (side view mirrors were optional) Front seat belts added Repaired gas pedal hinge Rocker arm “wicks” replaced (cotton wicks that lubricate the rockers) WHAT HASN'T BEEN DONE The front floor mat is crumbling to pieces from being used. The floor is just fine, though. Radio turns on but needs restoration Antenna stalk is missing Clock is not hooked up Overdrive is finicky, only kicks in sometimes (thorough cleaning of contacts and relays might fix that) Very slight oil or trans leak on the bottom Spits some coolant out of the water pump on startup but dry after a minute of running. Reverse lights don’t work High beams don’t work WHAT'S INCLUDED DMV clear (last time I checked) yellow plates Service Manual Most of the parts to rebuild the front end. Nash mattress in the original bag. Nash window screen covers for "camping". Optional hood ornament. Original jack and spare (including original tire!). Spare clock (slightly better condition). Lots of memorabilia, including the original sales receipt! If you have questions, please ask I am happy to answer them. There is a really nice article on Petrolicious about the car; just go to petrolicious dot com and search "nash" I'm not reposting all those pro pictures, as I think they made the car look a little "too good", if you know what I mean. You'll see pic or two of me on there, so you can see who you're buying from. (for better or worse). You are responsible for picking up the car or arranging shipping. I will help any way I can.
