Vehicle Detail
This is a hard to find 1990 Honda Civic Si Hatchback that I am listing for the second owners who are snowbirds from Maine that winter here in Tucson. This car was bought new here in Tucson and has never left the state so it is rust free and in excellent condition. It was sold from the original owner to the current owners back in 2006. During the time that they were away in Maine the Honda was parked in a covered storage facility here in Tucson. They have every receipt for work done on this car from the time it was new until current. All receipts are cataloged by date and just impeccable records were kept on this car. It is all original with NO MODIFICATIONS from stock. It was always adult driven and owned with no kids or pets in the car and no smokers. I will outline it in more detail below: MECHANICAL: The car is in great mechanical condition and if you have never driven one of these, they are a treat to drive. It's like you're in a high dollar sports car with just tons of power and just a blast to drive. As mentioned earlier this car was taken in to the dealer throughout it's life by the original owner and had everything and anything done to it that the dealer recommended. The second owners did not use the dealer as much but took it to a reputable import car shop here in Tucson and they continued to keep very good records for all the work they had done to the car and all these records will go to the new owner. The car starts right up and runs very strong through all gears and shifts flawlessly. No shakes or shimmies or funny noises from the engine or transmission. Stops straight and true. Does not smoke or leak any fluids or use any oil between oil changes. The engine bay is clean and all stock. Tires are fairly new with plenty of tread left and are in excellent condition with no weather cracks or cuts on the side walls. All gauges work as they should and lighting (both interior and exterior) all works as designed. This car could be driven across country with no worries as it sits right now. The only mechanical issues with the car are convenience items: Original radio/cassette work but sounds scratchy. Sunroof works intermittently. It will always open and close but sometimes it take a few minutes of hitting the button to finally activate the motor. And finally the AC is non-op currently but everything is there and in place so it may just need a charge. The second owners stated that the AC has never worked in the 8 years they owned the car and because they were here in Tucson only in the winter months they never bothered to fix it because they never needed it here in the winter. The good part of that is that the AC components have had much less use as a result. All windows roll up and down as they should. All doors lock. Heater works fine. EXTERIOR: All original paint with no accidents or paint work done on the car. All trim pieces are in good shape. Glass is all in excellent shape and it had a fairly recent windshield replacement. Zero rust anywhere on the car. All lenses are clear and bright. There are multiple chips in the factory paint consistent with a 24 year old car. No major dents, only a few minor dings on the body EXCEPT on the hood itself where there are 8 shallow dings like you would expect if a golf ball hit the hood. 6 of them are all localized to the very center of the hood in about a 8 inch diameter circle and the other two are on the passenger's edge of the hood. They are hard to photograph because of the color of the car. They were on the car when the second owners purchased the car and they cannot recall what happened to the hood. The hood could easily and cheaply be repaired and re-painted independent of the rest of the car. Overall the exterior of the car is exceptionally clean and in great shape for a car of this age. Paint shines very nicely still. INTERIOR: The interior of the car is in excellent condition. There is wear on the bolster on the drivers outside edge of the seat back where you rub against it when you get in/out of the car, but other than that small area, the rest of the interior shows very little wear. The carpet has been protected by the original floor mats and the carpet looks new. The front floor mats do show wear but they have done their job. Dash is perfect with no cracks. The steering wheel shows no wear. Door panels are in excellent condition. I don't think the rear seat has ever been used as it looks new. The carpet in the rear hatch storage area shows some wear but still in good condition. Spare tire and all original jack and tools are in place. Headliner is perfect. Sun roof cover retracts as it should and is in perfect condition. The window tint on the side windows is still in good shape but it is old. The car drives very quiet and is very comfortable inside. It is missing the knob for the radio. All factory speakers are in their original locations. SUMMARY: Just a very clean and well cared for Honda with tons of life left in it. Would make a great daily driver car and estimated MPG is around 35-36 MPG so it is very economical to drive yet it has tons of power. These are getting hard to find all stock and are often modified by Honda enthusiasts to get more power and handling out of them. The reserve is priced very reasonably as is the buy it now price so bid to win. I may be listing this car locally in other media so I do reserve the right to end this auction at any time should it sell locally. A $500 deposit is due within 48 hrs of the end of the auction via Paypal. Balance due within 7 days of the end of the auction. Check the pictures, check my feedback and bid with confidence! On Mar-25-14 at 08:03:48 PDT, seller added the following information: A eBay member had asked me for a list of recent maintenance and I sent him the following list so I thought it would only be fair to let everyone know about the recent work done on the Honda. This is no an exhaustive list, but just the major things done recently. Below is a copy of the email sent to him: At 180,784 miles on 12/11/13 the following was done: Timing belt, water pump, cam seal, crankshaft seal and valve cover gasket were all done.New battery on 11/30/13. At 180,054 miles : New air filter and rear brakes cleaned and adjusted, hose replaced from intake to throttle body (small coolant leak), new trailing arm bushings installed. At 174,054 miles Left CV axle replaced and serpentine belts replaced. Tires were replaced at 168,554 miles. At 164,970 spark plugs were replaced with seals. Air filter and valve cover gasket were also replaced. At 166,244 fuel tank removed and new fuel pump installed. At 166,417 Complete brake flush and complete brake inspection/cleaning. Spark plugs and tube seals replaced, new air filter, valve cover gasket replaced Keep in mind that in the 8 years that the second owners owned the Honda they only drove it for about 20K miles (they purchased it in 2006 with 164,605 miles on it) so they maintained the heck out of the car, what they did was nothing compared to the original owner who took it to the dealer and they WAY over maintained it as dealers so often do. It's an understatement to say that this car has been very well maintained. Oil change receipts are also in the file but the list above is the major stuff done in the last few years
