Vehicle Detail
1968 Camaro Z/28... When I bought this car I was told it's a REAL...Z/28 that said I had my doubts but I liked the car and bought it. When I got home I removed the front tires and there was the duel piston front calipers (standard on all Z/28 cars) I was very surprised and then started looking for more tell tail signs that it could be a real Z. It has a 12 bolt rear but I did not know if it was the original. I checked the numbers and YES.... it's the original 12 bolt posi with 3:73 gears. The numbers are BU 1001G2 E this decodes as Built Sept 17th 1968 3:73 Posi. The car is a manual steering car also on all Z/28 cars and original 4 speed. Also the tach 7K in dash and gages but this was an option. The rear bumper also has the 2 bumperets that where standard on all Z/28's. The motor and trans where changed. The motor in the car now is a 406 (400 small block .30 over) with nice roller cam and I was told has the original 202 heads. The intake is a original GM with winters making on it. The motor is very strong with lots of power and sounds great. The starter sometimes will click might need to be replaced soon but it's always started. The trans is a turbo350 that shifts fine. The car is painted Dark Blue it was originally LeMans Blue. The body is in overall very good shape, paint looks nice but has lots of little flaws from age, nothing real bad but it's not a show paint job. The interior is about the same it's a good driver quality, seats where recovered and the rest looks ok with normal wear. The headliner is done with non correct cloth but looks nice. The wood steering wheel has some crakes it looks like an original one. The floors and in good shape but the rear floor pans where replaced from the top and don't fit correctly but it's solid. The trunk pan was replaced and looks good. There is some rust starting on the radiator support on the bottom, some under the batterie tray and some around the trunk lip under the rubber seal. The car is overall very nice but not perfect. I was planning on putting a MO 302 in the car with Muncie 4 speed, but I have 3 other projects I'm working on and just don't have the time. The car is great the way it is but the value is in the 302, 4 speed compo. I have done some searching and have located a guy that has a 1968 302 motor with MO stampings on it casting number 3914768 I will give the number to the person that buys the car only. I will not give out his number to anyone else. It took me a long time just to fine it. The car is sold AS-IS with no warranty buyer pays for shipping. I can help arrange with a local shipper I have used in the past. I also reserve the right to end the auction early if the car sells locally. The car has a clean GA title. Please don't waist my time with lowball offers this car is worth a lot of money with the right compo most numbers matching Z's are in the 50's with correct non matching in the 30's I have priced the car accordingly but I'm open to realistic offers. Good luck.
