1949 Packard standard Eight sedan from the dry eastern plains of Lamar, Colorado We are offering it @ a low reserve as well as a very reasonable Buy-It-Now price for those who don’t want to wait until the end of the auction. If you like these old Packard’s as much as I do, you may want to consider this one! It is equipped with a 288 cu. In straight -eight engine, 3-speed manual transmission shift on the tree, AM radio & heater. Upgraded charging system to 12 volts w/new wiring, alternator, voltage regulator and electric fuel pump makes this Packard easy to start. The engine starts right up and runs smooth as butter, transmission shift with ease, Brakes work great! You’ve probably heard the old saying, “it will stop on a dime and give you nine cents change” Well! Not literally but, it comes pretty close. Floors are solid but, do have a couple of small patches on the front pans drivers & passengers side(see picture), trunk floor is solid all across. Overall, the body is solid and in good condition for a 65 year old car. As I write this, It reminds me that I was just 3 years old when this car was made. Now that's a sobbering thought! Either, this car just got younger or I just got older. I like to think of the car as a tough old bird, like myself. It will hang aroung for many years to come, if nothing else, just to see what happens next. This Packard can be driven as is while you start to perform upgrades to it over time.
