Vehicle Detail
This is the first year this smokey and the bandit car came out. It is in great condition in spite of its age. It's a real Trans Am with the 400 engine and automatic transmission. The body was exceptional and it runs and drives great. The posi trac differential can squeal the rear tires off a complete stop. The drivetrain doesn't make any weird noises, clacks, or bangs from anywhere. It honestly drives super smooth and shifts on time every time. I am going to have to have the carburetor rebuilt because it seems to run rich. It will be done by the end of this auction and I don't foresee any other issues . It has the plumbing and hoses for ac but no compressor or brackets. It also has no headliner but all the trim is there. I got this from a guy that assured me the car has matching numbers, but I haven't confirmed it. I have some pictures before we put in the carpet and paint so you can see how great the car was from the beginning. The paint is not show quality. It was done by a painters apprentice I met. The cost of materials and a case of beer. It actually looks very very decent. Like I said, the body looked good to start with. No rust anywhere, except the surface rust on the undercarriage (beauty of New Mexico cars). The only problem spot was on the hood and it looks ok from five feet away but close up, you can tell a couple more hours of body work would have been alright...I should have waited to open the case of beer! If you are looking for a frame off restoration, this is not your car. However, if you wanna car that you can "drive it like you stole it"...boom this is it. The interior has no rips, but the carpet is not original. The tires are in very good condition and the original snowflake rims look sweet! I was going to black them out but I think the next owner should decide if they want them like that or original. I don't know what else to say, but it is a really sweet car that turns heads and smokes wheels. It has its little issues here and there but can be addressed easily. Please call me for any questions or concerns. I am no master mechanic, not by a long shot but am mechanically inclined. If you want me to look for specific things like numbers or codes, just call. Ivan 575-650-2078. It is local pickup only unless we can make arrangements. I have delivered cars in the past and will do so again. I am proud of these cars so I have nothing to hide. The car is selling at no reserve, but it is also for sale locally so this auction might end at any time.
