Vehicle Detail

Youv'e been looking for a long time, here it is. This is the truck you have been looking for. No rust, nice body, nice interior, Turbo Diesel power, AC, Cruise Control.....,Pony up, and she is yours! This 81 caddy has a solid body, no rust, solid shock towers, newer repaint of factory color, fender flares, brand new front tinted windshield, tinted side and rear windows, remote mirrors, new door handles, small spoiler, new front and rear window seals, rocker panel chip guard, new tail lights, trailer harness with 5 to 4 wire converter, and 1-7/8" ball hitch. The vent windows are original but are sealed shut. The tail gate works good, but the bed liner needs resprayed. Underneath is rust free with new exhaust, new rear brakes, rear wheel bearings, rear brake cables, new struts, new front control arms, new tie rod ends, new rack boots, new urethane bushings. There is currently a set of Cooper Cobra's on the rims, but they are nearing the end of their life span. I have a set of Zandvoort rims (4) with one pair (2) brand new Toyo tires that will be included with the truck if they are not already installed. Up front is the 1.6L Turbo-Diesel. This is a serial number MF Turbo block that has the piston cooling jets. The engine was completely rebuilt 26,000 miles ago. It recieved a new head, new pistons, new rings, new bearings, new oil pump, rebuilt injection pump, new turbo injectors, new injection lines, and new gaskets. The truck has only seen Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel synthetic oil and Mobil 1 oil filters. The injection pump, turbo, and blow-off valve were recenlty adjusted by a Catepillar diesel mechanic. Wow! What a difference. Now it will go over 15 lbs boost and pulls really hard. I GPS clocked this truck at 93 mph. Tweak the governor and it should do 100. I pulled the head for inspection at 10,000 miles and it looked like new (see pic). I have since replaced some leaking main and aux shaft seals and installed a new thermostat, newer radiator and oil cooler hoses, added a larger 90 amp alternator, replaced the radiator with a larger cabriolet model, and installed a new AC condensor as well as all o-rings to upgrade to R34 refrigerant. The AC blows below freezing air (31 degrees). The engine has a block heater and a snap on custom radiator cover for colder weather. The battery is also less than two years old. Today I noticed some oil around the vacuum pump so it is probably due for a rebuild, costs about $20 and takes maybe 30 minutes. This truck has the 5 speed transmission. I just replaced the shifter bushings, a shift rod, rebuilt the shift ball, and adjusted the linkage. It shifts smooth and easy. It has a new clutch cable and a new speedometer cable and when I did the struts I installed two new drive shafts. Last fall I replaced all four motor / transmission mounts. No small job. Inside I stripped the interior and installed new sound deadener. New carpet, new headliner, new padded A pillars, new B pillars, new Headliner, new rear window apron. I swapped out the seats for a more comfortable pair of modified Cabriolet seats. I also installed a Cabriolet instrument console and a Jetta steering wheel. The AC blows ice cold, and you could roast a turkey with the heater. I added intermittent wipers and an Audiovox Cruise Control unit. Boy, is that nice! It has a Sony AM/FM/CD/MP3 with face input. There are small speakers in the dash and there are wires run to the doors, but to be honest, I didn't have the heart to cut holes in the brand new carpet trimmed door panels. I replaced the window cranks, and lubed up the remote mirrors. The dash is smooth and crack free. The visors look good, but one is missing its mirror. There is also a new dome light wired hot so the switch works, as well as the head light knob switch and the door switches. The VDO gauges include a second water temp, turbo boost, and oil pressure. With the boost turned up the water temp should eventually be replaced with a exhaust temp guage for safety. The dash cluster water temp guage still works great, but the clock does not work. Understand, eventhough this vehicle has had a lot work done to it, it is not new. It is 33 years old. It does have imperfections, and the occasional gremlin. But I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere, and I frequently commute 72 miles each way to work in it without ever having an issue. The mileage will go up as I continue to drive it, I can't help it, it is really fun to drive! I have included lots of pictures and have tried to be very descriptive. I will include the original manuals and my service log. It goes back to when I purchased the truck at 100,000 miles. All sales are final. BId accordingly. The reserve is not set low, but it is fair. This is good, solid truck that has been well maintained and upgraded. The reserve is far less than I have in the truck. I have a ton of parts for this truck. I may be inclined to fill the bed for you before you drive away, if the winner is interested these parts include: a complete spare engine block, injection pump, starter motor, alternator, vacuum pump, power steering rack & pump, spare injectors, spare injector lines, AC pump & lots more. I also have a set of maintenance tools for setting the pump &,cam timing ,as well as some other specific tools. Worth another $200 and the new owner will appreciate the ability to do this precision work.
